Our rapidly growing organization requires smartand committed people to support and sustain our ever changing and expanding manufacturing environment.This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading-edge company as a key contributor in this newly created role.As the Health and Safety P rogram Specialist you will work collaboratively with the Leadership team, Plant Manager, department managers, supervisors, team leads and employees to build, implement, and oversee health and safety programs to ensure a safe and productive workplace.You will be responsible for facilitating compliance with occupational health & safety regulatory requirements and guidelines by supporting best-in-class safe work practices and comprehensive personnel training.

The H&S Program Specialist should be well-versed in all OH&S policies and practices in line with WorkSafeBC regulations.The role will be focused on developing, administering and educating Longboard Health and Safety policies, focus on prevention and root cause analysis and requires diligence, process knowledge and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and sensitivity for potential dangers. The overall goal is to support and maintain a healthy and safe workplace.

What You Will Do:

● Oversee the day to day function of the Longboard Safety Program (eg: administering the Safety program policies; maintaining applicable documentation; establishing performance measures and analyzing and reporting on health and safety program results and trends) and monitor and evolve it to ensure compliance with local, provincial & federal regulations.

● Author, train, roll-out and administer company Safety standards, programs, and policies

● Organize and facilitate various training sessions including the health and safety orientation, safe work practices, use of personal protective equipment, and site emergency procedures as applicable for existing employees and new hires

● Track and d eliver reports on key safety indicators and presentations on health and safety program issues, achievements, and status of key initiatives; and coordinate the necessary planning, due diligence, and quality controls to identify and mitigate OH&S risks.

● Facilitate the Joint Health & Safety Committee and maintain meeting minutes and drive actions through to completion .

● Ensure that corrective actions have been taken whenever safety deficiencies have been identified .

● Ensure safety inspections and audits are conducted, including completion of the department Safety Preventative Observation Report (SPOR).

● Lead and facilitate incident investigations, including incident , near-misses, unsafe conditions, and practices; write reports to document findings and drive corrective actions to prevent incidents.

● Conduct Job Hazard Analysis and Process Hazard Analys i s to ensure existing and new equipment and manufacturing processes consider Health & Safety requirements .

● Conduct proactive Risk assessments and maintain site risk register and prioritize Opportunities for Improvements .

● Liaise with regulatory bodies such as WorkSafeBC, Fire Department etc. to ensure 100% compliance at Longboard premises.

● Liaise with stakeholders to ensure 100% compliance of Safety Program requirements related to environmental management processes.

● Manage hazard control programs (engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment), safe work procedures, hazard communication and SDS programs.

S ome of the initiatives you could be working on in the near future:

● Coordinate program and lead path for LongBoard to obtain WorkSafe BC's Certificate of Recognition (COR OSSE).

Qualifications:

● You have a minimum 5 years of Health and Safety field experience.

● You are well-versed in local, provincial, and federal Health and Safety regulations, including but not limited to Work Safe BC, OSHA, and the BC Fire Code

● You have experience liaising with applicable Health and Safety regulatory authorities.

● You have excellent influencing, and communication skills, with the ability to obtain buy-in from multiple stakeholders.

● You are an excellent problem solver with keen investigation and analytical skills and are proactive in identifying the root cause of issues to develop the right solutions.

● You are a hands-on collaborator with a can-do attitude who will not hesitate to roll up your sleeves to lead and bring others into action.

Exceptionals:

● You have other certifications in the Health and Safety field (eg: CHSO )

● You have experience with ISO14001 Environmental Management Systems

● You have experience with environmental regulations & reporting, indoor air quality and industrial hygiene sampling and analysis.

The compensation range for this role is $80,000 - $100,000.
