A Day in the life of the HR Consultant The HR Consultant is a pivotal member of the Highbridge HR team. A pro-active self-starter with a strong sense of internal motivation, this individual is driven to execute tasks and projects, and loves getting things done! The HR Consultant will support in a variety of HR projects, research, and ad-hoc advisory services. The ideal candidate is inspired by the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills to various HR projects and ad-hoc requests across a broad range of clients and industries. Able to work as a collaborative team member, this individual is equally fueled by autonomy in their work and driven to deliver exceptional end results and project deliverables. The HR Consultant has strong organizational skills, managing multiple priorities within tight deadlines, as well as the ability to establish priorities, define action plans, and monitor and communicate their progress. As the HR Consultant, you are comfortable performing duties independently based on broad general direction, and able to leverage the support of the full HBC team of Recruitment and HR professionals to consult with and troubleshoot any arising issues. As an HR Consultant you will: Dedicate a majority of your work week to time on-site with clients in Kamloops and the surrounding area. You will provide guidance, expertise and coaching regarding HR issues, legislation & compliance, as well as ad-hoc HR consultation and special projects, as required. Lead and/or support on projects including compensation analysis, wage grid creation, performance review, and other relevant HR projects. Conduct HR audits and analysis to identify existing gaps in client HR processes, programs, and procedures, and generate HR Review Reports provide recommendations as required. Develop customized policy handbooks to ensure compliance with current legislation and alignment with industry best practices. Align HR policies and programs with client's business strategies and objectives to build a strong and productive workplace culture with high employee morale and engagement, continued retention, and ongoing commitment. Assess the business' organizational structure and recommend HR solutions which support the business strategy through the effective utilization of people and processes. Assist client leadership team with the definition, planning and implementation of HR Programs ensuring consistency, compliance, and efficiency. Support client leadership team and acts as an HR expert for employee issues, when necessary. Partner with HBC consultants and clients to provide a full range of HR services; Provide client leadership team and management with ongoing coaching and guidance regarding HR strategy and employee relations issues, as they arise. Assist with employee discipline, workplace conflict, individual performance improvement plans, workplace investigations and/or terminations. Provide guidance, recommendations and implementation support of performance management models that are aligned with our clients' defined business objectives. Provides guidance to management and employees on employee relations-related issues, complaints, or problems. Responsibilities also include interpretation, application, and administration of the client's policies and/or collective agreements, as well as the applicable employment standards legislation; Demonstrated experience developing policies and process; Sound knowledge of human resources best practices and employment related legislation including a wide-spread knowledge of provincial Employment Standards, Human Rights Code, Canada Labour Code, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and other related employment laws. ~ Ability to establish priorities, defines action plans, and monitor performance. experience in remote team environments considered an asset. ~ Strong computer skills; expert level capability in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). ~ demonstrated ability to identify, gather information and data, present options, and partner with other consultants and/or clients to effectively and creatively resolve complex human resource matters. ~ Proactive and energetic customer-service orientation with an awareness of and sensitivity to diversity. ~ Direct experience with Indigenous Peoples and/or projects creating positive results for the community and the business, is considered an asset. ~ Awareness of Indigenous Peoples customs and cultures, with specific knowledge regarding BC First Nations, is considered an asset.
