Reports to: Director, Manufacturing Operations We believe that safety is everyone's responsibility and can only be achieved through the active participation of everyone within the organization. We make quality products; Our Production Manager plays a pivotal role in our success. The Production Manager will be responsible for planning and coordinating the activities necessary to execute production plans for eight (8) manufacturing departments and shifts successfully. The position will work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Planning, Human Resources and Sales to optimize the utilization of equipment, materials, and human capital, resulting in excellent safety performance, high product quality, process throughput, and on-time delivery. The Production Manager will be accountable for: Championing safety on the shop floor by visibly supporting safe work practices, identifying opportunities for improved safety, and participating in the investigation and root cause analysis of incidents. Monitor departmental performance against goals to ensure progress is made and corrective action is taken if necessary. Driving, implementing, and maintaining lean manufacturing processes at the shop floor level. Lead and coordinate manufacturing plans with departmental supervisors to optimize throughput. Review and approve plans to control planned output, budget spending, material efficiency, engineering effectiveness, and human resources. Championing root cause analysis of quality and productivity problems and implementing solutions. Recommending new policies or procedures as necessary. Manage the collection and reporting of production, scrap, cost control and quality data. Evaluating and approving changes to manufacturing practices, process specifications and standards. Taking a lead role in the training and developing manufacturing team members. Overseeing the performance management of Supervisors and manufacturing personnel. Diploma in Operations Management or a demonstrated equivalent combination of training and experience. Minimum 5 years' experience in a leadership role within an industrial manufacturing environment with accountability for safety, costs, quality, and departmental performance. Experience with Roll Forming machines and Industrial presses considered a strong asset. Formal training in lean concepts or Six Sigma principles. Strong understanding of production processes, quality control, and inventory management Experience using and producing reporting from ERP tools and software. Excel capabilities will be required. Direct relevant experience leading manufacturing activities in a lean manufacturing environment. An ability to lead people to higher performance. Ability and experience managing change. An organized and systematic approach to managing projects, priorities and deadlines. Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals Must be able to work as required in the factory and lift up to 15lbs Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week Occasional travel including to international destinations may be required.
