Computer Science/Mathematics Teacher

Position Beginning : August 2024
Required Education and Recommended Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience
- Must hold, or be eligible for a(n) NWT Teaching Certificate
- Bachelor of Education Degree
- Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Science or Engineering is an asset
- Knowledge of and experience in the effective use of technology as a teaching and learning tool
- Knowledge of one or more computer programming languages (Scratch, HTML, and Java is an asset)
- Experience teaching in northern communities is an asset
- The understanding of Indigenous cultures is an asset
- Vulnerable Sector Check is a requirement
Required Skills and Abilities
- Proficient skills in the use of Google Workspace
- Ability to teach senior high school mathematics at the Grade 11 - 12 level, including Calculus
- Ability to connect mathematical and computational thinking
- Ability to teach computer hardware and software, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance of hardware and software, web development, digital citizenship, etc.
- Ability to work as a team member in planning, delivery and assessment of programs and students
- Organizational skills, initiative and a strong team focus
- Ability to speak French would be an asset
