Electrical Project Manager

Techmation Electric & Controls is searching for an Electrical Project Manager for our Regina branch . We require a dynamic and experienced Electrical Journeyman with previous project management and estimating experience. This position is responsible for managing contract execution with the client by planning, monitoring, controlling, reporting and administering the project.

Techmation works on a variety of Industrial Construction and Maintenance projects throughout Western Canada. You will have the opportunity to work on crucial projects with very reputable clients and have security in knowing there is continuous work.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensure that all drawings and specifications are approved, controlled and available to appropriate personnel
  • Ensure that revised documents are distributed in a timely manner and all obsolete documents are retrieved to prevent unintended use
  • Liaise with customer representatives on matters pertaining to the project which includes a documented "Contract Daily Report" and a "Weekly Progress Report"
  • Provide the Materials Coordinator with detailed specifications so that adequate information is communicated to vendors on purchase orders to ensure compliance with the project requirements
  • Provide information to the Scheduler to monitor project timelines
  • Develop Inspection and Test Plans
  • Ensure that Techmation personnel and subcontractors who are performing work that will affect the product quality are competent based on appropriate education, training, skills and experience
  • Ensure that appropriate resources are available to coordinate all quality control activities required on the project
  • Manage all financial aspects of the project through ongoing job forecasting
  • Oversee pre-construction meetings to ensure successful handoff from estimating to field level
  • Manage project activities throughout lifecycle, including the allocation of adequate resources, documentation and other factors necessary for success
  • Set clear goals and expectations as well as provide mentoring and coaching for the foreman, superintendent, and project control specialist
  • Receive, review, monitor and analyze project documentation to ensure project is on budget, being done to specification, is on schedule, and safe work practices are being used.
  • Develop processes and systems for effective project execution, monitoring and reporting
  • Work with the client to resolve any concerns and build good working relations
  • Manage all job closeout procedures
  • Conduct post project reviews to determine areas for future improvements
  • Monitor and control project document preparation, distribution and filing including master files, drawings, etc.
  • Develop and maintain a network of professional relationships to foster new business development opportunities

Requirements:

  • Journeyman Electrician certificate
  • Industrial facility construction and maintenance experience
  • Must have 5 or more years of extensive experience and knowledge of construction, design, andcost management as an Electrical Project Manager or similar position in an Industrial environment
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate would be an asset, but not required
  • Must be able to read and interpret contracts, blueprints and drawings for industrial projects and understand the scope of work and project specifications
  • Previous experience in the following areas:
    • Estimating and budgeting
    • Cost management
    • Planning, scheduling, and monitoring
    • Progress measurement and performance verification and reporting
    • Change management and forecasting
    • Risk management
    • Cost and schedule variance analysis and recovery planning
    • Progress claims and invoices
    • Creating and updating Graphical Reports
    • Preparing and submitting daily, shift, and monthly reports
  • Excellent contract administration skills including the ability to review and execute the project based on the specific contract specifications
  • Advanced abilities in reading and interpreting plans and specifications
  • Proficient in Primavera (P6), MS Project, and MS Office software
  • Must be proficient with contract specification work and contract preparation
  • Strong problem solving and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to address multiple conflicting priorities and responsibilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and to present oneself in a professional manner and represent the company image
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a diverse team
  • Pro-active and decisive personality
  • Is a strong advocate of a team-based environment
  • Demonstrated leadership and project success are expected
  • Candidates must have their H2S Alive, Standard First Aid, CSTS-09 and OSSA Fall Protection certificates

Due to the nature of the work, applicants must live within commuting distance of Regina, SK, or will be wiling to relocate, to be considered.
