Details:

  • Role Status: Permanent
  • Salary Range: $210,000 - $225,000
  • Benefits Package: Comprehensive Health and Dental benefits as well as a Pension package

  • Responsible for the assigned projects from inception through to completion
  • Develop new project plans in consultation with stakeholders, including clients
  • Direct the human and material resources required to complete assigned projects successfully
  • Formulate a resource allocation strategy and utilize this to distribute work and budgets
  • Exercise authority in managing the work and controlling the delivery of the projects per project plans
  • Monitor project staff performance to ensure excellence and adherence to specified deadlines
  • Review and ensure observance of the overall scope, schedule, and budget
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies and contingency plans
  • Lead the tracking, monitoring, and reporting on performance against project requirements, schedule, milestones, budgets, quality measures, and KPIs, and addressing of issues with corrective actions as appropriate
  • Evaluate the project's effectiveness by consulting with clients and project staff
  • Oversee staff on progress reports, proposals, and presentations to various audiences, including the project team, client executives, key stakeholders, and operations
  • Direct the negotiation of scope changes
  • Manage ongoing quality control checks and participate in quality issue resolution
  • Define the success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project and program life cycle
  • Set and interpret project and program expectations while delegating and managing deliverables with team members and stakeholders

Project Responsibilities:

  • Providing strategic access planning guidance and support based on industry practice, knowledge and lessons learned
  • Identifying access plan constraints and developing strategies to alleviate
  • Support all parties to plan, book and utilize appropriate access aligned to associated work activity with maximum efficiency
  • Assessing and determining the need for change to access planning processes and methods and implementing changes to deliver improved performance
  • Supporting with deconfliction analysis and implementation
  • Supporting with improving visibility of planned and booked works
  • Support with access to specific negotiation
  • Support access innovation aiming to achieve cost reduction and improve safety
  • Providing expertise to maximize the available working windows
  • Support with the use and optimization the Rail access planning tool
  • Assist with adherence to access process, procedure and standards
  • Communicate and demonstrate planning best practice

Qualifications Required

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 18 years of experience in Project Management
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Licenses OR Certifications:
    • Holding a recognized Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Extensive knowledge and understanding of access issues in a railway environment
    • Knowledge and understanding of contractual issues in an access environment
    • Extensive awareness of safety issues in an operational railway environment
    • Extensive knowledge of access improvement initiatives and an understanding of how to drive these through to bring the desired benefits
    • Have experience of planning complex, multidisciplinary construction works within operational corridors
    • Have experience of leading rail access staff
    • Have experience of rail access booking systems
    • Be able to understand various rules and regulations that dictate strategic access
    • Expert grasp of prevailing Project Management methods
    • In-depth understanding of tools and metrics needed to evaluate project performance
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office
    • Proficient in Project Management software
    • Must maintain professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and best practices
    • Ability to arrange priorities and escalate competing risks to meet deadlines with minimum input from leadership
    • Keen eye for detail and adept problem-solving abilities with a track record for meeting deadlines
    • Must have demonstrated experience relaying and receiving information (written and verbal) in a demanding multidisciplinary project environment
    • Expert ability to detect, capitalize, and be sensitive to others' strengths
    • Demonstrated capability to supervise, delegate, and develop capacity
    • Proven capacity to anticipate, identify, and minimize risks
    • Effectively lead multi-resource Project Management teams
    • Ability to perceive and ameliorate conflict and tension
    • Expert ability to work collaboratively and independently on creative and analytical tasks in a structured, disciplined, technology-driven environment
    • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment by ensuring effective teamwork, promotion of innovation, and overall excellence
    • Demonstrated functional acumen to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices
    • Proven success in providing effective leadership by building and motivating teams to meet project goals and adhere to their responsibilities and project milestones
