Introduction

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Learning is seeking qualified individuals to fill a regular full time opportunity within the Inclusion Support Branch.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in education or related field to school/community issues and relevant work experience.
  • Experience supervising and/or leading a team (project, committee, etc.) with the ability to apply effective human resources practices.
  • Experience in strategic and project planning related to complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, partners and working groups in a diplomatic and sensitive manner
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to write politically sensitive materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills, managing multiple priorities and meeting strict deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with ability to take action to strategically align and execute the goals of the department.
  • High level of political acumen for navigating sensitive and confidential issues with tact and diplomacy.
  • Financial management and budgeting training and/or experience.

Duties:

The Coordinator position (School and Community Support) is responsible for leadership and oversight of an individual unit within the Inclusion Support Branch (ISB). The unit is responsible for providing system leadership in policy development and program coordination to support inter-sectoral collaboration among schools, families, and service providers with a focus on student and parent/caregiver engagement within the K-12 school system.

The Branch provides policy direction, accountability and support for children with diverse needs and works collaboratively with other government departments with a mandate that includes children and youth. ISB is also responsible for engaging with educational stakeholders to facilitate alignment of government and school division policies in providing appropriate educational programming. The Branch researches best practices in education, develops and implements education policy/standards, evaluates progress, reviews, monitors and evaluates grants, measures and reports on student outcomes, and provides leadership to schools and school divisions.
