Responsibilities:

NV5 is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer based out of our Melville, NY office. This position will include serving as Project Engineer/Manager on projects throughout Long Island, which consist of roadway and highway reconstruction, downtown streetscapes, suburban parks and recreational facilities, bicycle paths and trails, traffic signal design, green infrastructure, pavement markings and signage, and construction administration and inspection. The most frequent and essential work activities include:

Duties:

  • Utilize computer software programs to display designs in Autocad, Civil 3D and Microstation.
  • Perform roadway assessments and condition surveys.
  • Prepare construction plans, drainage and grading design, stormwater pollution prevention plans, site layout plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Mentor and train employees.
  • Participate in professional associations and societies.
  • Work with our Long Island Director to achieve department goals.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering
  • New York PE license
  • Minimum of 5-10 years experience in transportation/roadway design engineering
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of Civil 3D and/or Open Roads software
  • Previous NYSDOT and/or Nassau County DPW project experience and municipal roadway improvement projects
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid drivers license prior to employment.
  • Experience working on Long Island, NY preferred

Our Melville, NY office operates on a 4-day work week.

The pay range for this position in New York is $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year; however, base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
