As a Senior Software Engineer on the Product and Item Experience Team at eBay, you will play a crucial role in the development and maintenance of eBay's Item Details platform. You will work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, where your expertise will contribute to enhancing the buying experience for millions of eBay users worldwide. We are seeking a talented and passionate engineer who thrives on solving complex problems and is driven by delivering high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable software systems that power the selling capabilities on eBay's platform
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code using industry best practices
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to ensure high-quality code standards
  • Identify and troubleshoot system issues, performance bottlenecks, and implement timely solutions
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, and evaluate their potential impact on eBay's selling platform
  • Develop comprehensive test plans, write tests (both unit and end-to-end automated tests) to ensure the reliability and stability of the software
  • Participate in agile development methodologies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of software development processes and tools

Qualifications:

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with 4+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • Strong proficiency with front end web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and frameworks (React, Svelte, NextJs, etc.) are essential
  • Strong proficiency with Nodejs and frameworks such as Express are essential
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principle
  • Knowledge of querying APIs such as GraphQL
  • Knowledge of database systems (SQL and/or NoSQL)
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and debug complex issues; Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms or marketplace systems
  • Experience with styling frameworks such as Less or Sass is preferred, though not essential
