Apply locations Calgary, AB - Sons Bakery time type Full time posted on Posted 6 Days Ago job requisition id R814300 This position is to maintain the Food Safety and Quality Policy programs to produce safe high quality products that are constantly exceeding our customers' expectations and continuously improving our programs and systems. All appropriate resources required for validating and verifying food safety & quality programs have been and will continue to be provided.

Must be flexible for overtime work and weekend work.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring food quality & food safety are continuously maintained during all production activities.
  • Work with the departments to ensure all production related deviations are appropriately corrected & aid in implementation of preventative measures as applicable.
  • Responsible for complying with all applicable policies and procedures as outlined in the Food Safety & Food Quality programs as per SQF and Regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring all employees are trained on Food Safety & Food Quality programs as per SQF and Regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for complying with all applicable QA policies and procedures.
  • The Quality Assurance Senior Technician is the Substitute SQF practitioner for the site, when the primary SQF practitioner is not able to perform their function. The Substitute SQF practitioner oversees development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF system. Takes appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF system and communicates to all relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF system. The substitute will have the same powers and authority as the primary SQF practitioner.
  • Responsible for meeting customer requirements as per product quality and specifications.
  • Responsible to demonstrate capacity to work well in a results and deadline driven environment pursuing continuous improvement with hands on experience in root cause problem solving and meeting growth objectives.
  • Responsible for monitoring all the daily production as per (SOP) Standard Operating procedures and take any necessary action if needed.
  • Monitoring all employees to ensure they are complying with the (GMP) Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Provide Quality Assurance leadership through communication, problem solving, and to promote and ensure the development of these attributes across the entire Quality Assurance department. Responsibility for explicit/correct work instructions.
  • Responsible for products on hold and only the Q.A. Manager has the authority to dispose (Release/Reject) hold items.
  • Collaboration with peer functional areas to achieve objectives. Ensure accurate and timely communications and reporting.
  • Aid in successful SQF & other Regulatory & third party certification requirements.
  • Responsible for completing the QA technician development program (i.e. formal training and achieve level 3 QA Tech Career Road Map).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • University education in Food Science, or equivalent experience however acquired.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Quality Assurance Department preferably in a food setting.
  • Solid understanding of SQF Code. Certified SQF Practitioner and Internal Auditor.
  • Formal (3rd Party) HACCP Training Certification
  • Highly developed leadership, interpersonal and strong people skills demonstrated ability to manage a diverse crew of people at all levels of ability.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced experience in problem-solving, process management and analysis in a time sensitive environment.
  • Well developed budgeting, forecasting, analytical, modeling & critical thinking skills.
  • Very good oral and written communication, explanation, interpretation, consultation and advisory skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

  • Periodic exposure to temperatures noticeably above and below room temperature.
  • Regular exposure to stress caused by complex and time sensitive deadlines.
  • Constant exposure to machine noise.
  • Extended periods of time standing on the production floor.
