Large infrastructure contractor is seeking an Intermediate Quantity Surveyor or Estimator with experience across infrastructure (transportation, water or other heavy civil) projects to join its leading team in Toronto.

Job Description

Our client is currently looking for a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to join their team on recently awarded infrastructure project. Ideal person will mainly focus on civil works including concrete, rebar, structural steel and bridge components. Will also be exposed to Client meetings, project/site meetings, tracking work progress to prepare progress reports, preparing quantities/estimates, quotations and contractual negotiations. Competitive salary and benefits package offered.

Estimator/QS position is project driven; fast paced and can be demanding at times. Their department thrives on teamwork in order to meet deadlines and procure clients. A successful candidate will be a motivated, team-oriented individual that has the ability to work well in a fast paced work environment.

Salary: From $80k-90k upwards, depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Completing assignments from Commercial Manager
• Completing site progress visits and associated reporting
• Administering contracts and executing contracts
• Strong communication with Subcontractors and Client Representative
• Monitoring site work progress and taking care of administrative duties, such as change orders and invoicing
• Comparing bid to actual job results
• Being a self-motivated asset to the team, while working effectively and efficiently without direct supervision.

Specific Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge

• Previous Civil/Infrastructure experience an asset
• Understanding of construction processes
• Mathematically inclined
• 3+ Years Estimating, Cost Planning, PQS environment an asset
• 2+ Years Contracting experience an asset

Abilities
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
• Ability to work well in a team environment

Desirable Qualifications and Knowledge
• SAP Software
• Autodesk Buzzsaw
• MS Excel
• Gold Seal Certified
• Industry Experience (Transportation Infrastructure/ Roadworks)
