Position Summary: The Senior Estimator holds the reins for the meticulous, punctual formulation of full-cost estimates for commercial interiors, covering service contracts right up to expansive projects exceeding $50,000,000. Supplementary roles may be allocated as deemed necessary. Key Responsibilities: • Curate preliminary design-driven conceptual estimates. • Detail out construction estimates hinging on progressing construction materials (i.e. varying IFT Document Progression levels). • Engage in face-to-face and virtual conceptual estimate discussions at diverse project phases. • Offer insights on constructability at multifarious project junctures. • Advocate value engineering strategies to synchronize project timelines/budgets with client visions. • Participate in preparatory construction briefings to assimilate requisite information. • Channel internal and external market insights regarding material accessibility and pricing trajectories. • Engage in tender site evaluations and steer sub-trade site analyses for constructability feedback. • Coordinate and/or generate tendered cost projections for design-oriented or construction management endeavors. • Confer tendered sub-trade task summaries with concerned project affiliates. • Develop and oversee a repository of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors. • Assess received proposals in-depth. • Finalize or reject proposal overtures and negotiate associated contracts. • Advocate appropriate allocations for indirect expenditures, inflation, and contingencies. • Scrutinize proposal specifics and illustrative materials to gauge work scope and estimate essentials. • Sustain documentation repositories to support estimate data, emphasizing real-time subcontractor pricing details. • Reevaluate design alternatives and advise on cost-effective resolutions. • Vet concluding estimate batches to ensure thoroughness and accuracy pre-official quote. • Provide specialist insights during contract negotiations, change amendments, and other related activities. • Undertake auxiliary tasks as directed. • Decode construction stipulations, blueprints, and existing structures. • Foster and nurture internal and external (clients & trades) affiliations. Qualifications: • A minimum of 7 years immersed in construction cost forecasting. • Tertiary education in construction/engineering or a relevant domain. • PQS accreditation is advantageous. • Must be in possession of a legitimate Ontario driving license. • Must have available transportation (for on-site engagements). • Proficient in verbal and written communication. • Robust presentation acumen. • Exceptional analytical and mathematical prowess. • Mastery over time management. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. • Familiarity with PlanSwift is beneficial. • Capacity to synergize in a team with limited oversight.
