A recruitment and retention supplement will be offered to front line Nurse, Nurse Practitioner and Midwifery positions within the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority. The successful incumbent will receive a $6000 supplement upon hire and an additional $6000 supplement after completion of 12 months of continuous employment contingent on remaining employed in an eligible position for a further 12 months. This is a taxable benefit and will be subject to applicable deductions.

Job Information

As the Registered Nurse Acute Care, you will be providing 24-hour care for patients in the following areas: Obstetrics (including Labour and Delivery and newborn care), Pediatrics, Medical, Surgical, Psychiatric and Palliative Care. You will be reporting directly to the Regional Manager of Acute Care. You are a member of the nursing team which assesses patient status and responds to health problems, plans and performs independent interventions to facilitate the maintaining or regaining of clients health. You will act as a patient advocate and facilitate communication between the patient, family, and other health care professionals which results in holistic care delivery. It is expected that sound judgment is used in carrying out patient care and in the implementation of physician's orders. You may also be required to provide care in Long Term Care, assist in the ER and be on call for the ward.

To be considered for this role you will need to have successfully completed a Nursing degree and have two years recent experience in an acute care setting.
