Secondary Contract Teacher with

School Based Program Leader

The following position is open to DSBN Secondary Occasional Teachers, and teachers external to DSBN who are qualified in the area(s) noted below and in Good Standing with the Ontario College of Teachers.

Applicants must currently hold specialist qualifications or provide proof of registration in the specialist course in one or more of the required specialists for the position. The course must be completed by August 31, 2024. Interested applicants must apply using Apply to Education.

The teaching contract position is permanent, subject to successful completion of a 1-year probationary period. The School Based Program leader position will be effective September 1, 2024 for a period of four (4) years, ending August 31, 2028

School Based Program Leader Responsibilities include:

• Facilitate, promote and lead professional learning for staff.
• Model, promote and support effective practices for staff in the areas of professional judgment, safe workplace practices, classroom management, curriculum, assessment, evaluation, reporting and student focused instructional strategies.
• Liaise with administration regarding staff assignments and timetable allocations to implement the academic program.
• Provide direct assistance, instructional leadership, and mentoring to staff.
• Make recommendations to the Principal regarding budget, equipment, learning materials, course offerings and timetabling for staff and students, facility and resource requirements in the program area.
• Participate in and support the school-based leadership team with school and system initiatives informally and formally through regularly scheduled Program Leader meetings.
• Hold regular meetings with department members of the program area.
• Create, and review program area improvement plans that support school and system goals.
• Attend system PD and program related meetings related to the program area(s)

Compensation: the School Based Program Leader receives a responsibility allowance of $2,330 per year, i n addition to placement on OSSTF Salary Grid based on QECO category rating and prior qualified teaching experience. (subject to change based on Collective Agreement).
