This is a hybrid role working from our Vancouver, BC office.

Base salary target range is $100,000 CAD annually plus annual bonus and restricted stock units.

Role overview: The Software Development Engineer in Test will be responsible for leading automation testing activities. This role is responsible for maintaining current testing solutions and creating new frameworks according to the various applications testing and reporting to stakeholders.

A day in the life...

  • Design and implement new tools/solutions for automation and create utilities to improve efficiency of testability of product.
  • Create automation framework from scratch using open source libraries which can be used for UI, API, backend and mobile applications.
  • Performance tuning and optimizing automation framework for high availability and accuracy of testing application in continuous delivery pipelines.
  • Configure CI/CD pipelines and integrate testing tools for seamless data flow.
  • Documenting architectural changes in framework and able to communicate and train other automation team members for using new solutions created within the framework.
  • Create a data strategy for automation to increase testability of the product.
  • Create and maintain coding standards for automation and document them.
  • Peer code reviews for new tests created by other team members to maintain coding standards
  • Continuous improvement in current solutions by using new and innovative ideas according to tech stack and architecture of the product.
  • Triage the test runs before each release and provide the report and update any changes.
  • A great team player who is able to support manual testing activities as needed

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years in test automation development as a senior member or similar role.
  • Proficiency in one of more object oriented programming languages such as Python, Java, C# etc.
  • Experience in creating automation frameworks using open source libraries such as Selenium, Appium, restassured etc.
  • Experience in estimation, plan and execution of testing activities on integration with cloud based test management tools such as TestRail, Xray etc.
  • Experience in APIs and backend automation test solutioning.
  • Experience with command line tools and good understanding of Linux based operating systems.
  • Experience in setting up CI/CD pipelines using Github, Jenkins and understanding of dev-ops tools such as Dockers, Kubernetes and terraform etc.
  • Excellent issue isolation, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
  • Strong team player in a flat-structured, highly-collaborative, agile environment is a must
