The Opportunity:

The Internal Audit Superintendent is responsible for developing, overseeing, and managing the internal audit function with the clients mine operations. The role involves ensuring that internal processes, procedures, and practices are effective, efficient, and aligned with the mine sites objectives and regulatory requirements.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Plan audit activities, including identifying key risk areas, determining audit scope, and developing audit plans.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of internal controls, operations processes, and financial systems to identify areas of risk and opportunities for improvement.
  • Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of ICFR at the mine site.
  • Lead the review of financial records, operational processes, regulatory compliance and internal controls through documentation review, interviews and testing to ensure effectiveness and adequacy.
  • Determine the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls to mitigate risks related to financial integrity, operational efficiency and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Prepare audit reports that highlight findings, recommendations, and actionable insights for managements consideration.
  • Track the implementation of audit recommendations and monitor progress to ensure that corrective actions are effectively addressing identified issues.
  • Foster positive relationships with stakeholders across the operation, including management, staff, external auditors, and regulatory bodies.

What You'll Need To Be Successful:

  • 5 - 7 years experience in internal or external audit with preference for public practice experience with a national firm with a focus on mining, preferably start-up operations.
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business Administration.
  • Strong understanding of Sox compliance.
  • Professional accounting designation is required (CPA, CA preferred).
  • Prior experience with SAP, S/4HANA or 4CP.
