Job description/duties: The role is responsible for the completion of routine and complex engagements, leading and mentoring junior team members towards meeting and managing client and firm expectations and relationships, and proactive and professional communication with key stakeholders. Key job duties include:

· Understanding client's business, identifying issues, and suggesting improvements

· Producing concise and complete reports for review by engagement manager

· Applying technical knowledge and research in formulating client and firm related recommendations

· Ensuring compliance with internal control and policies

· Working with the engagement manager, anticipating engagement issues and risks, assessing alternatives, and taking appropriate actions

· Training and mentoring junior team members and providing feedback to ensure they are able to make improvements on subsequent engagements

· Building effective working relationships with client contacts, and responding effectively to client requests

· Identifying new business opportunities with existing clients

· Coordinating more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting team and other departments

· Reviewing journal entries of junior accountants to ensure accuracy

· Performing various analyses and reviewing financial statements to identify the disclosure deficiencies

· Demonstrating the ability to suggest the audit approach to testing of relevant items

· Assisting with the management of clients and fostering excellent relationships while seeking out new business opportunities

· Communicating with other members of the client service team, including partners and managers, to ensure client expectations are met and managed in a timely manner

· Actively supporting and participating in firm wide initiatives

· Participating in the firm's Team Development and Performance Management Program

· Promoting the firm's Quality Control Standards

Skills requirements:

· Bachelor's degree

· CPA Designation or proof of how the requirement will shortly be met

· Minimum 3 years experience with public company audit and assurance work

· Demonstrate expert knowledge of relevant Canadian and US Auditing Standards, and IFRS, US GAAP is an asset

· Strong working knowledge of accounting systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Able to provide quality service

· Creative problem solving ability

· Strong engagement management skills

· Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

· At minimum, 1 year experience managing and mentoring Junior Accountants

· Identify engagement issues and attempts to resolve them

Estimated Start Date: October 01, 2024

Terms of employment: Permanent, full-time

Wage: $72,800-75,000 per annum, plus overtime while CPA designation is pending; increase to $91,000-95,000, plus annual discretionary bonus following CPA designation. Subject to the Firm's performance review, compensation may be increased in the future.
