Objective:

The DC Manager, Receiving and Inventory Control will be accountable for receiving, staging, put away, and all inventory movements within or outside DC, including samples and returns. Along with his team, the incumbent must assure a rapid and steady flow of product from receiving to put away along with the proper system transactions to assure inventory accuracy in terms of quantity, status and location. As our business is highly seasonal, the DC Manager – Receiving and Inventory Control – will be responsible to work with the Import Director and the Canadian Production Director to properly plan the workload and adjust the workforce requirement accordingly.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and improve key performance indicators under your control – Lead Time, Inventory Accuracy, etc.
  • Forecast and coordinate the activity levels with Imports, Production, QC and Traffic departments.
  • Coordinate the receiving of incoming inventory, ensuring accuracy and completeness of shipments.
  • Assure the conversion of Flat Pack to GOH (garments on hangers) including the management of relevant supplies.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance team the movement of goods between our facilities and 3PLs.
  • Manage 3PL relationship (giving work, following up, invoice approval, control the budget, etc.)
  • Master D365 (ERP system) to ensure the inventory levels visible to internal clients are accurate.
  • Organize and maintain the warehouse to maximize efficiency and accessibility of inventory.
  • Analyze put-way strategy and implement best practices based on various garments categories.
  • Develop and implement inventory management processes to optimize inventory levels, minimize stock-outs, and reduce excess inventory.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits (cycle counts, year-end count) to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Develop inventory replenishment strategies to maintain optimal inventory levels and meet customer demand.
  • Assure all movement of inventory within and outside of the DC are properly recorded including returns, carryover, and product requests by other departments.
  • Coordinate all value-added activity to correct any inventory problem (retagging, hanger change, etc.)
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Generate regular reports on inventory levels, stock movement, and inventory aging.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve inventory management processes and procedures.
  • Implement new technologies or systems to enhance inventory control and efficiency.
  • Lead, train and mentor a team, provide guidance and support.
  • Implement measures to safeguard inventory and warehouse facilities against theft, damage, and loss.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Operation Management or equivalent (pertinent experience to be considered)
  • 5 years of experience managing shop floor operation and guiding/managing front line employees
  • Computer system skills and interest – Microsoft Suite, ERP system (D365 a plus)
  • Structured and organized
  • Team worker able to work across boundaries (with other departments)
  • Experience in process optimization a plus
