Job Description

Were seeking a self-motivated Accountant with entrepreneurial drive to join our client in Dartmouth, NS. Working closely with the CFO, the successful candidate will have ownership of a variety of accounting responsibilities that provide valuable financial information to the leadership team and play a key role in the companys operations to prepare for growth and future investments. This is a permanent opportunity.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Manage all bookkeeping duties, including administering biweekly payroll and employee benefits
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Journal entries
  • Financial reporting
  • Cash flow management
  • Budgeting and forecasting
  • HST return filing
  • Coordinate and oversee claims for government funding programs
  • Identify new funding opportunities
  • Collaborate with management to create financial models

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting or related field
  • 5 years+ progressive, full cycle accounting experience
  • High level proficiency with accounting software, ideally with QuickBooks, Sage, and/or Xero and MS Excel
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in an entrepreneurial or start-up environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Uphold a high level of integrity and ethical standards
