Grant Writer - responsible for preparing proposals and applications for grants that align with the objectives and mission of an organization Southland Trailers is seeking an experienced Grant Writer located in-person in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Responsibilities:

  • Research funding opportunities from government agencies, foundations, and corporations that align with the organization's mission and programs
  • Review and analyze RFPs and grant guidelines to understand requirements and eligibility criteria
  • Collaborate with program managers and other staff to gather information, data, and statistics necessary for proposal development
  • Write clear, concise, and compelling grant proposals, ensuring that they effectively articulate the organization's objectives, activities, outcomes, and impact
  • Develop budgets and budget narratives in collaboration with finance personnel, ensuring alignment with proposal narratives and funder requirements
  • Edit and proofread proposals to ensure accuracy, coherence, and adherence to funder guidelines
  • Coordinate submission logistics, including gathering supporting documents, obtaining necessary signatures, and submitting proposals by deadlines
  • Maintain organized records of grant submissions, outcomes, and reporting requirements
  • Stay informed about trends, best practices, and changes in the grant funding landscape
  • Build and maintain relationships with funders, attending networking events, and cultivating partnerships to enhance grant-seeking efforts

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • Proven experience in grant writing, with a successful track record of securing funding from government agencies, foundations, or corporations
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and tailored proposals
  • Strong research skills, with the ability to gather and synthesize information from diverse sources
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software
  • Knowledge of nonprofit operations, program evaluation, and budgeting
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Familiarity with fundraising strategies and donor cultivation techniques
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values
  • The role may involve occasional travel to attend meetings, conferences, or funder events
