As ATB's Senior Product Manager, you are responsible for working in a consultative role representing the business in defining their vision, needs and requirements while being able to translate the 'what' into the 'how'; exhibiting a key understanding of underlying technologies, level of development effort and working hand in hand with the development team to deliver an idea into a reality – continuously delivering value along the way. A Senior Product Manager plays a key role in the intersection between business, design and technology, with the ultimate goal of maximizing business value from a product or service.
The Senior Product Manager is accountable for the subject matter expertise in the area of product delivery and product life cycle management including the creation, development, research and implementation of market competitive and market leading functionalities and strategies in support of the business unit. This includes an in-depth understanding of existing products and offerings, developing and implementing product strategies and corresponding tactics that will lead to achievement of the short and long term adoption growth objectives that meet the needs of customers around Alberta and Canada.
Role, Responsibilities & Expectations:
- Lead product discovery, design and delivery tied to ATB strategic priorities while delivering value to end users
- Translate and communicate the business vision into outcomes and objectives to support product work
- Align product work to best practices ensuring we make the right choices to deliver against ATBs goals and objectives while limiting barriers, roadblocks or re-work
- Define and manage product roadmaps (concept, requirements, development, delivery and refinement)
- Aligning business and operational needs with intent to solve important customer problems while achieving business goals
- Lead the creation of Business Cases in order to define business problems, value propositions and outcomes
- Ability to gain a deep understanding of business needs, features/functionality and translate those into the user stories or requirements
- Facilitating workshops with different levels and skill sets to elicit business need and requirements tied to application functionality and overall user experience
- Navigate through Request for Proposals (RFPs) to ensure the right solutions are selected to align to business needs, outcomes and strategy (incl. requirements, vendor demos and assessments, scorecarding etc)
- Map out and communicate end to end business and technical processes
- Build value-driven relationships with stakeholders, cross-functional teams, senior leadership and our partners
- Define success metrics for your product and drive all product efforts to those measures.
- Maintain a backlog of future enhancements or operational improvements and work directly with the business to prioritize based on business/user need
- Facilitate ceremonies; stand-ups, iteration planning meetings and retrospectives
- Define risks, assumptions, dependencies and constraints and impact to the product delivery
- Build a deep understanding of the voice of the user and identify the requirements and impacts to the product
- Collaborate with external (Vendors) and internal (Engineering, Design, Marketing, Communication, Adoption) cross functional team members to enable the product vision
- Build a solid knowledge base across ATB-specific business domains and their series of products and services
- Consistently identify areas to improve the product practice at ATB through approach, practice, templates etc.
- Ask the right questions, craft solutions and deliver user validated digital products to meet business needs
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Commerce, Information Technology (i.e. MIS) or equivalent experience
- 5-7 years of related project or product delivery experience
- 5+ years co-leading or leading initiatives across digital products as a Product Manager/ Business Analyst
- Deep understanding and application of product delivery practices are required - Agile/XP/SCRUM, work processes and business analysis methodologies
- Commitment to empathy for the end user; user centric focus and approach
- Comfort and confidence in decision making with executive leadership, areas of expertise and strategic support units
- Collaborate with partners and internal cross functional team members to enable end user value (Engineering, Design, Marketing, Communication, Adoption)
- Break down complex problems into actionable steps (and opportunities)
- Define and drive out options for a problem or find a way of looking at things differently
- Define and drive out task management actions and activities
- Knowledge and application of business analysis concepts, tools and processes
- Knowledge of IT resources and enabling technologies; software, architecture and databases
- Excellent communication skills across oral and written
- Technical fluency; types and application of technologies to deliver a business need - applications, integrations and data sources
- Understanding and application on agile and user-centered design values, principles and practices
- Create an environment that supports inclusion, recognizes bias and promotes psychological safety
Additional Qualifications:
- Product Management / Business Analysis certification is an advantage
- Lean startup product environment experience
- Software development experience is an asset
- Conducting RFP's for Consultancy / Implementation is an asset
- Banking, Wealth Management, Investment Management, Financial Industry experience is a differentiator
