Job Summary
Reporting to the General Manager, the Operations Manager will oversee and manage the daily business operations of Infrastructure Logistics trucking operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring efficient transportation of goods, maintaining high standards of safety and compliance, and fostering strong relationships with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders. They play a key role in driving continuous improvement initiatives and cost-monitoring to enhance operational effectiveness to meet business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize logistics operations, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
- Target areas to improve systems and processes relating to equipment utilization including maintenance, rehabilitation, replacement, and tracking.
- Anticipate logistical needs, considering factors such as customer demands, market trends, and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee day-to-day logistics operations including scheduling, dispatching, routing, and tracking of shipments.
- Monitor and analyze KPIs and operational costs.
- Resolve operational issues in a timely manner, collaborating with internal teams, drivers, and brokers as required.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and company policies to maintain a safe and legal operating environment in conformance with all applicable transportation laws and regulations.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols, training programs, and quality standards for drivers, staff, and brokers.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with brokers, and clients to ensure efficient operations and customer satisfaction.
- Negotiate rates, and agreements with brokers to optimize costs and service levels.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of logistics professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance feedback.
- Lead in the recruitment process for key positions and train employees as required.
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in logistics operations management, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within the trucking industry
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in logistics software and systems (e.g., TMS, GPS tracking).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
