The Operational Support Clerk is responsible for providing administrative support for the Emergency Communications Centre (ECC) including shift scheduling and CARM data entry, and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Hold the primary responsibility for the ECC shift schedule and related CARM maintenance as the ECC Lead Scheduler.
- Assign resources including overtime and required hours.
- Delegate work to other admin staff/schedulers as required.
- Provide guidance and training to other clerks/employees about maintaining and updating the schedule and CARM.
- Updating template formulas in excel as staffing needs change
- Responsible for assigning squad shift patterns to ensure equitable squad coverage/squad strength.
- Direct liaison with CARM team to ensure position movements are done accurately and timely.
- Create and update daily shift schedules for the Emergency Communications Centre (ECC) with call ins and ensure that all positions are covered according to minimum staffing.
- Send out Overtime requests when directed, monitor scheduling email inbox and scheduling software and update supervisors with staffing changes.
- CARM data entry for all day-to-day shift schedule changes.
- Create the base shift schedule.
- Other related administrative duties as required.
Qualifications
- Completion of the twelfth(12th) school grade including business subjects with an emphasis on word and information processing or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college, supplemented by training in basic microcomputer applications
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in a scheduling role in a 24/7 public safety environment with critical staffing needs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling-related labour regulations and requirements, including the Edmonton Police Associsation and Civic Service Union Collective Bargaining Agreements and the Alberta Labour Standards.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and time management skills.
- Proven technical ability working with various computer software programs and databases.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products is required.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel experience is required.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated self-initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Experience with CARM would be an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize a high-volume workload in a demanding fast paced environment.
- Ability to adapt to change and work in a multidisciplinary team setting
- Experience in an Emergency Communication Center considered an asset.
- Leadership, training, or supervisory experience would be considered an asset

- As part of your pre-hire screening you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
Hours of Work:
This position works 40 hours per week on a rotating shift work schedule including evenings and weekends within an office environment.
Salary Range:
21B, Salary Grade: 013, $25.766 - $32.308 (Hourly), $2,061.30 - $2,584.60 (Biweekly), $53,799- $67,459 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
