Job Description

Are you an accounting and finance professional keen to be part of a thriving department within the Nova Scotia provincial government?

Were seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our client as a Financial Services Officer on a three-month contract in Halifax, NS. The successful candidate will be detailed oriented, well organized and have great business acumen.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Maintenance of accounting records
  • Analysis of budget expenditures and revenues
  • Preparation of estimates
  • Identify and address potential risks in processes
  • Support in the development and implementation of new systems and processes
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and government regulations
  • Other tasks as required

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • Post-secondary education in business or accounting
  • Minimum five years experience in an accounting-focused role
  • Prior experience within the provincial government is a definite asset but not required
  • Strong computer and software skills
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities
  • Must have great attention to detail
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
