The SQL Database Architect will provide hands-on, technical leadership and oversight on the technical architecture of Moneris, on-premise and cloud-based, database systems to ensure scalability, reliability, security and operational efficiency are in place to support our needs. Location: You will be based in our Toronto office and will work in a Hybrid model. Reporting Relationship : You will report to the Director, Data Platform and Services. Provide technical leadership for the architecture, design, development, and operational support of Moneris database systems and its associated technologies to meet requirements of high availability, consistent performance, scalability, and security. Continuously assess and identify inefficiencies and gaps in the current database technology portfolio and recommend solutions. Design, plan and lead the implementations of solutions using database technologies and their functional capabilities based on business requirements while effectively integrating into existing database infrastructure, smoothly transitioning knowledge of the solutions to the members of the team for deployment and operation. Establish and support the implementation and adoption of technology standards, processes and policies related to the Database Services functional area. Develop database architectural strategies at the modelling, design and implementation stages to address business and industry requirements. Lead and participate in initiatives with Applications and Technology teams to design, develop, and deploy Database solutions following Agile methodologies and best practices. Provide technology ownership, mentorship and support for escalated incidents and problems to Database Services team members. Assist in the assessment and development of long-term strategic goals, products, and services for Data Platforms and Services Bachelor's degree in computer science/IT or a related field of study or 10+ years of equivalent IT working experience. 10 or more years of experience as Database Administrator (DBA), preferably on Microsoft SQL Server and Azure SQL solutions. 10 or more years of experience and expertise in Database and Systems architecture design, development, and implementations in medium or large enterprise mission-critical 24/7 environments. Proven experience with performance tuning and optimization, and high availability, business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities of Microsoft SQL Server.
