Value Added Services Manager

Job purpose

This position is responsible for maintaining and increasing profitability of parts sales by promoting SSAB services and capabilities by having a very good knowledge of the products, services offered and the center's capacity.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of technical drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Conduct research and collect data of special projects.
  • Work closely with the inside sales team, RSMs, CAD team and other managers.
  • Progress reporting is critical for the position.
  • Evaluate current & new costing of parts with RSMs.
  • Ensure SSAB is meeting customer needs and gather future information which will help drive forecasting and innovative solutions involving SSAB products and services.
  • Provide accurate and timely feedback on competitive programs and pricing and assist in developing SSAB pricing strategy as requested.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of processes and standards.
  • Actively participate in continuous improvement activities.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues that may arise during the development or production phase.
  • Support Trial material & Strategic products.
  • Study shop capabilities and limitations.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited College or University, or an equivalent combination of education & experience
  • 1-2 years of experience in the area of relevant internship or entry-level engineering experience
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, extremely organized
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Strong analytical skills, exceptional judgment, dependable, excellent teamwork skills, good time management skills, able to delegate, creative, problem-solving, hardworking & persistent, professional competence, proactive
  • Maintains good public relations by displaying an attitude of dedication, courtesy and professional competence that will be recognized as such by customers
  • Must be a team player and an effective, contributing member of the Technical Services Team
  • Bilingual in both official languages, orally & written (e.g. French, English) as appropriate to assigned geographic area
  • Current/active driver's license

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited College or University, or an equivalent combination of education & experience
  • 3+ years of experience in the area of product/equipment design, and previous hands-on experience in workshop production and/or design
  • Knowledge of the steel production process, specifically related to high strength and/or wear resistant steels

Working conditions

Travel 25% of time in the field, at customer's sites, Trade Shows, etc.
