M&A ASSOCIATE / M&A MANAGER

We acquire, manage, and build mission-critical vertical market software companies that are located all over the world. We have acquired over 1,000 businesses across 100+ industries including software used in aerospace, engineering, automotive, e-commerce, construction and many more. We acquire (and never sell) small, medium, and large sized private and public companies from owner/operators as well as institutional and corporate shareholders.

THE POSITION

We are looking to hire an experienced Associate or Manager to join our Mergers & Acquisitions team in Toronto. This position will work within one of the divisions of Vela Software Group. As a key member of the M&A team, you will be responsible for executing acquisition opportunities from end-to-end, which will have you:

  • Support the deal origination team in identifying and meeting vertical-market software businesses that meet our acquisition mandate and thesis
  • Develop and nurture relationships with management, shareholders, and advisors
  • Analyze target company financial/operational information, form investment strategies, and create all investment materials including detailed valuation models, due diligence reports and information memorandums
  • Coordinate the later stages of the acquisition process and conduct commercial / financial due diligence and transaction execution
  • Support preparation and review of offers (IOIs, LOIs, definitive agreements)

THE QUALIFICATIONS

· 3 to 6 years of experience in a top-tier investment banking, accounting, venture capital, private equity, corporate development, management consulting, or other relevant fast-paced and analytically driven investment role

· Distinguished academic performance with an undergraduate degree in business (MBA, CPA, and/or CFA are considered assets but not required)

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Proven research, analytical, and financial modeling skills

· Flexibility, adaptability persona with ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with firm deadlines

· Meticulous attention to detail

· Team player who enjoys a high-performance culture

· Willing and able to travel internationally on occasion
