POSITION SUMMARY The Manager of Engineering is responsible for managing the Engineering Department. His/her main focus is to support the Energy Division's strategic and operational goals through careful project planning and execution to meet deadlines and obligations, as well as upholding high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency, and providing the necessary leadership to cultivate a high-performance mindset among the team. RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the health and safety of team members, ensuring that health and safety practices and standards are implemented and upheld, and maintaining Kruger Energy's prevention program. Act as a leader and mentor for the team, ensuring that skills, tools, and processes evolve to meet the short- and long-term goals of the division, including performance management as per human-in-the-loop processes, in addition to staff hiring and onboarding. Interact with Corporate Engineering staff and processes to execute mandates effectively. Cooperate with peers to meet the Division's strategic objectives, including GMs, Development, Finance, Legal and Procurement Directors. Responsible for the effective planning, organization, execution, and completion of projects/mandates entrusted to the group, for meeting quality, safety, budget, and time expectations, and for ensuring the long-term reliability of new and existing operational infrastructure and equipment. Participate at every stage of new energy infrastructure projects, from preliminary studies to constructions, including the conception, planning, and execution, as well as regulatory applications for licenses and permits. Manage budgets and deliverables for external/contracted engineering and construction management services and coordinate major maintenance activities and projects sponsored by General Managers of existing operational infrastructure. Participate in technical studies, drafting specifications and other documentation for regulatory agencies by collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams. Develop personal and team expertise in the Division's current and projected activity sectors through focused training and participation in industry events, as well as gathering market intelligence. QUALIFICATIONS Engineering degree, member of the OIQ. EXPERIENCE 10-12 years of experience as an engineer. 3-5 years of experience managing technical/engineering teams in the renewable energy sector. Experience managing contracts and contractors. SKILLS AND ABILITIES Capacity to develop and evolve tools and processes. Proficiency in MS Office, management and reporting systems including company ERP. Comprehensive writing skills to meet internal and external reporting obligations. Superior ability to work under pressure and at an accelerated pace. Ability to take initiative and work with a fair degree of autonomy. Ability to solve practical problems and to deal with multiple variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Valid driver's license. Available to work in Canada and the United States (approx. 25% travel time). LANGUAGES Bilingual (French and English).
