Position: Casual Communications Technician 1 FTE: Casual, On Demand Department: Health PEI Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown 96 Per Hour The Telecommunications Technician 1 facilitates hospital communication by operating the switchboard and various other systems. Respond to emergency calls (i.e., codes, stat calls) received via various methods such as the Emergency phone line, Wall Panel, Central Nurse Call system, Fire Panel, Assault Alarms, Wandering Patient Alarms in accordance with Hospital Procedures; - Place long distance calls and pocket pages using electronic resources - Monitor requests to enter and exit main hospital entrance (after hours) and facilitate same with security staff; - Use mobile Radio system to communicate with security staff; - Report equipment repairs, typing and editing various daily lists; - Assist with the mailing of all other accounts to appropriate departments; - Control and balance the petty cash fund and receipts; - Must have 25 words per minute typing skills; - Basic computer skills are required; - A pleasant telephone manner, have demonstrated effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in cooperation with others would be considered assets; - Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
