*Neighbourly Pharmacy* is looking for a *Part- Time or Full Time Pharmacy Technician *to join our Pharmasave team in Grand Forks, B.C.

*JOB SUMMARY*

The Registered Pharmacy Technician reports directly to the Pharmacy Manager, while also working

under the direct supervision of any Pharmacist on duty during the same shift. The Registered Pharmacy Technician is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and patient care and provides technical and administrative support to the Pharmacy team.

*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

_*Pharmaceutical Distribution*_
* Gather information to create and maintain the accuracy and completeness of patient records
* Assess prescriptions for clarity, completeness, authenticity, and compliance with legal requirements
* Interpret prescriptions, perform any required calculations, and ensure the prescription information is recorded accurately on the patient record
* Refer patients to the pharmacist that require clinical assessment, analysis, or application of the pharmacist's knowledge
* Receive and transcribe new verbal prescriptions from prescribers
* Transfer and receive prescriptions from other pharmacies
* Select, prepare, package, and label prescriptions for both commercially available products and extemporaneous compounds as outlined by policies and procedures
* Perform accurate prescription adjudication and manage coverage related issues in cooperation with the patient and pharmacist
* Complete appropriate documentation for all tasks including but not limited to filling prescriptions and filing procedures
* Understand and adhere to the quality assurance policies/procedures for job performance management, medication error risk management and narcotic/controlled substances
* Always maintain the confidential and sensitive nature of the pharmacy/patient relationship in accordance with legislation and standards
* Check the prescription for completeness and accuracy if dispensed by self or a pharmacy assistant; and or ensure that it has been checked prior to being handed over to the pharmacist or distributed to the patient
* Ensure that a pharmacist has reviewed the appropriateness of a prescription prior to release
* Enter and process sale of prescription and other purchases using the POS cash register

_*Additional Pharmacy Administration Responsibilities*_
* Maintain inventory requirements sufficient for patient safety and efficient operations
* Coordinate the monitoring and removal of expired medications in accordance with provincial legislation
* Conduct inventory spot checks for accuracy, and manage out-of-stocks in accordance with store policies and procedures
* Ensure that the dispensary is tidy and organized including the prescription section, waiting area, and counseling areas
* Ensure supplies are checked, restocked, and ordered as necessary
* Ensure health information pamphlets are organized, updated, and reordered as required for daily use and any planned clinics or seminars
* Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as required to maintain efficient workflow within the dispensary and professional areas of the pharmacy
* Operate POS according to store policy, verifying customer receipts and issuing receipts
* Reconcile cash float at the beginning and end of shift as required
* If closing, reconcile total tender (cash, debit, credit, gift certificates) to POS sales data and file "end-of-day cash envelope"
* Process merchandise returns or refunds in an efficient manner in accordance with store policies

_*Pharmacy Health Care Services/Programs Responsibilities*_
* Communicate to customers, basic details of the service including, but not limited to, name of service/program, basic details, and cost
* Register customers for the service/program
* Refer customer/patient to a pharmacist for more details and/or let pharmacist know that customer/patient is interested in service/program
* Gather patient information and preparing applicable files/forms for pharmacists.
* Appointment reminder calls/communications for patients
* Provide training and technical instruction on medical devices such as blood glucose meters, spirometers, nebulizers, etc
* Prepare and organize service/program resources including, but not limited to, documentation forms and marketing materials
* Perform other administrative duties as assigned including but not limited to, scheduling and training pharmacy assistants and other support staff

_*Additional Customer/Patient Services Responsibilities*_
* Develop and maintain excellent customer relationships
* Whenever possible, respond to patient/customer needs in a timely fashion that supports appropriate patient care and excellent customer service
* Provide customer assistance in locating front store products (refer all questions regarding drug information or any health concern to the pharmacist)

*JOB REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES*

Proof of current pharmacy technician licensure in good standing from the applicable provincial College
* Previous experience in community pharmacy (front store or dispensary) is a strong asset
* Knowledge and understanding of the federal and provincial legislation regarding the filling and dispensing of prescriptions
* Good organization, self-motivation, effective communication, attention to detail, and customer service skills
* Previous retail experience considered an asset
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment

*WORKING CONDITIONS*
* Standing for up to 8 hours a day
* Lifting/moving up to 30 lbs may be required
* Climbing a ladder may be required
