ETRO is expanding into manufacturing! Join us in revolutionizing the construction industry as our Senior Manager, Prefabrication + Off-Site Construction. This role is on the leading edge of research and development, driving efforts to explore off-site construction methodologies and creating groundbreaking building components. We are looking for a dynamic person who loves pushing the boundaries of what's possible.

The Senior Manager, Prefabrication + Off-Site Construction is an experienced people leader and problem solver who will push forward current initiatives while setting up the future of this new department. Being at the forefront of reshaping how buildings are constructed, this person will be working closely with our Pre-Construction team to explore the vast potential of offsite construction. With expertise in Lean methodologies, you'll champion operational excellence and continuous improvement, positioning ETRO as a leader in Lean implementation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Here's what you'll get up to as the Senior Manager, Prefabrication + Off-Site Construction:

Research & Development:

Work closely with the Pre-Construction team to determine building components that can be constructed offsite

Research offsite construction methodologies for specific products

Collaborate with trade partners on installation needs and methods

Create prototypes of products from conception to mock-up

Provide input on design modifications to optimize the construction process

Identify and evaluate potential suppliers for materials and components used in offsite construction

Develop a network of knowledge-sharing across both Pre-Fab and Lean communities of practice

Bring concepts of Industrialized Construction to ETRO

Prefabrication:

Develop and implement plans, schedules, and budgets for prefabrication products.

Negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, and ensure timely delivery of materials.

Launch innovative prefabricated building components as products

Follow up or supervise installation activities of prefabricated items as deemed necessary.

Optimize mock-ups to become cost-effective and create production plans for execution.

Familiar with rigging calculations, equipment selection, and verification of installation activities.

Implement efficient production processes to maximize productivity and minimize waste.

Monitor progress to avoid delays, and create periodic progress reports for accuracy and completeness.

Ensure technical adequacy and compliance of prefabricated items with contract requirements.

Proactively manage risks associated with offsite construction projects.

Liaise with Authorities Having Jurisdiction for off-site inspections and certifications

Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, providing regular updates on progress, challenges, and solutions.

Lean:

Set up the ETRO facility for Lean prefabrication processes

Drive implementation and adoption of Lean practices in Operations teams, including but not limited to:

Last Planner System

Pull Planning

Takt Planning

5S

Plan-Do-Check-Act

Provide internal training to new hires in Lean processes during onboarding

Create lean logistics plans

Engage with the Vancouver Lean Community of Practice and position ETRO as a leader in Lean implementation in the Lower Mainland

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

On top of your passion to work in a growing business full of professionals in the trade, here's what we're looking for:

Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Management, Industrial Engineering, related Engineering, or Construction Management

Proven experience in developing and implementing manufacturing strategies that drive operational excellence

Strategic mindset with the ability to innovate, implement, and train

Strong leadership and time management skills.

In-depth knowledge of manufacturing principles and processes, including Lean Six Sigma, Agile, Kaizen, or LCI-CPC.

Excellent oral and written communication skills
