Rooks to Cooks is GTA's leading culinary school for children. Celebrating our 8th year in Summer Camp operations we are ramping up our efforts to ensure our campers have the most memorable and enjoyable summer yet in 2024!

We are currently recruiting On-Call Supply Instructors to assist us across our 14 GTA locations this summer. Candidates who commit to this on-call supply position must understand the nature of this role and feel as if it works well with their lifestyle and schedule. Agreeing to be an on-call instructor means you remain available on the dates you share with us (whether that is once a week or all summer long) and given one of our full-time instructors cannot attend work, you will be called in to cover them. On-call supply instructors are integral to our team and camp operations and MUST be reliable people.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain a physically and emotionally safe environment for campers and staff
  • Define and reinforce camp rules and expectations
  • Teach campers extensive culinary theory and various culinary skills with enthusiasm and passion
  • Prep mise en place for chef's demos and camper recipes
  • Respond and react professionally to all incidents regarding campers
  • Ensure campers are well fed and kept hydrated throughout day
  • Supervise and support campers to ensure their safety and accurate execution of the recipes on hand
  • Execute FIFO in your kitchen facility and maintain fridge, freezer and pantry organization
  • Enforce and execute cleanliness standards as prescribed by head office

Required Experience & Skills :

  • 2+ years of experience working in the culinary industry
  • 2+ years of experience working with children
  • Experience teaching is an asset
  • Culinary certificate or its equivalent is an asset
  • Teaching degree or its equivalent is an asset
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about teaching children how to cook
  • Organized, detail-oriented and punctual
  • Proactive, reliable and safety conscious
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outgoing and comfortable conversing with others
  • Great sense of humour

Job Types: Temporary

Pay: $16.50-$30.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
We are following COVID-19 Safety Guidelines for: Day Camps as per Ont. Ministry of Health.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual, Seasonal, Freelance
Contract length: 10 weeks

Pay: Up to $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 44 per week
