Our Market and Product Development Specialist, Engineered Wood is a vital member of Tolko's marketing and sales team. This role actively supports Tolko's market growth objectives through innovation, product development, and superior customer service. We're looking for a Market and Product Development Specialist, Engineered Wood to join our head office located in Vernon, British Columbia. Our head office houses Tolko's corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement, and Human Resources. Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  1. Bachelor of Science in or currently progressing towards your Professional Certification.
  2. 0-5 years in an Engineering/Design related role.
  3. 0-5 years in a Sales related role.
  4. Understanding of Engineered Wood Products (EWP) and specialty forest product markets in North America and worldwide.
  5. Ability to read/understand blueprints and home layouts including supporting design software.
  6. Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  7. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  8. Strong project management skills with proven ability to successfully manage timelines, and milestones with minimal supervision.
  9. Strong influencing and consultation skills with an ability to gather and analyze information to obtain buy-in and/or approval from all levels of staff and management.
  10. Ability to develop trust-based relationships and credibility with diverse stakeholder groups.

In this role you will:

  1. Report to the Manager, Plywood, LSL & EWP Sales & Marketing.
  2. Work closely with Tolko's existing Professional Engineering staff.
  3. Liaise with internal and external decision makers and specifiers to open new and expand existing opportunities for Tolko branded product.
  4. Conduct preliminary market research around building, marketplace, customer, and product trends and use this information to help clearly define Tolko's sales, marketing, and product development objectives.
  5. Review blueprints, design specifications, and provide solutions for customers to convert their project from competing products to Tolko materials.
  6. Hone your design skills to provide design and related solutions for floor, roof, wall, and whole house design, including professional advice as required to customers with mentorship from a senior Engineer.
  7. Actively sell and manage customer accounts.
  8. Travel approximately - percent of your time.
