Location: Dawson Creek, BC

Reporting to: Dean of Trades & Apprenticeships

Salary:

$45.60 - $56.75/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional 2% on all regular earnings in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.

Description:

Northern Lights College is recruiting to fill the role of Piping Trades Foundation Instructor.

The Piping Trades Foundation Training program encompasses the foundational technical training required to enter into the trades of Plumber and Steamfitter/Pipefitter. The training includes all the relevant technical training to successfully complete the Foundation/Level 1 SkilledTradesBC learning outcomes for both trades simultaneously. Students who successfully complete this training will have satisfied the SkilledTradesBC requirements for their level 1 training in either trade.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Steamfitter/Pipefitter - Certificate of Qualification with Red Seal endorsement.
  • 'B' Level Gas Certification.
  • Five years recent industry experience after completion of Red Seal certification.
  • Five years of industry experience as a Gasfitter - Class B.
  • Experience with the MS Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Committed to student motivation and success.
  • Ability to collaborate as an effective team member.
  • Current, valid driver's license.

Preferred:

  • The Provincial Instructor Diploma Program or an equivalent credential in adult education, or a readiness to pursue such a credential.
  • Two years of supervisory experience would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrable success in teaching at the post-secondary leve.
  • Experience instructing a culturally diverse group of students, including Indigenous and international students.
