We are seeking a Science Teacher to work in our Senior and Middle School on a contract basis. The successful candidate will join the Science team and report to the Instructional Leader, Science. Using a lens of social-emotional learning, create a class environment and rapport that inspires and supports learning and personal growth. # Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation for further education in accordance with each student's ability. # Ensure the written, taught and assessed curriculum is in line with the IB and Ministry of Education curriculum ensuring differentiation. # Develop culturally relevant, inclusive and responsive science and environmental science curriculum for diverse learners. # Develop course outlines, unit plans, lesson plans ensuring integration of all aspects of the IB Middle Years Program and Diploma Program curricula, with a focus on inquiry-based learning. # Update all necessary records accurately as required by the Ministry, IBO and school guidelines. # Keep up-to-date and incorporate best practices in the subject area and approaches to teaching and learning through professional reading, participating in workshops and other professional development opportunities. # Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution; with a specialist in General Sciences; Ontario College of Teachers certification , or equivalent, with I/S qualifications in General Sciences; 2-3 years' related teaching experience preferred; Experience in and knowledge of IB is a strong asset; Strong curriculum development skills and assessment practices that incorporate strategies relevant to the age and stage assessment practices; A relational educator who incorporates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching strategies in their practice; Experience and/or desire to incorporate principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the curriculum; Knowledge of relevant technology and able to work in a laptop and online environment; Adept at leveraging technology to deliver education program and correspond with students, parents, colleagues, and the community at large; Passionate about teaching and being in service of students and the community; Competitive salary and benefits including being a contributing member of the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan (OTPP) for eligible employees; Access to state of the art facilities and resources to support wellness, innovation, and entrepreneurship such as the fitness center, swimming pools, and makerspaces; A collaborative community with a commitment to the growth and development of employees with ongoing professional development and mentorship; Opportunity to join a global network of IB educators with strong connections to the IB and active partnerships with international organizations. #
