About MRUFounded in 1910 and located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Mount Royal University grew into a vibrant college in the 1930s and became a mid-sized university in 2009. Mount Royal has carved out a distinct niche by offering smaller class sizes, a robust liberal education and unique undergraduate programs. About the Department of Cougars Athletics & RecreationCougars Athletics and Recreation actively creates, promotes, and sustains an environment in which the Mount Royal University community is challenged and supported in pursuit of personal growth in Athletics and Recreation.
Mount Royal's Cougars Athletics & Recreation is seeking experienced Yoga Instructors to join our MOVE MORE group fitness team. We're looking for instructors who are passionate about their craft and capable of working with participants of all fitness levels. Our ideal candidate will have training in various yoga methods and years of experience as an instructor.
Reporting to the Fitness and Customer Experience Supervisor, Yoga Instructors are integral to our MOVE MORE group fitness team. The team is driven by our why: to inspire people to move so that they can be the best versions of themselves. About the Role Responsibilities- Class preparation; facility and equipment set-up.
- Program design for all levels of yoga.
- Lead participants on proper breathing techniques and poses.
- Support and mentor developing student staff.
- Supervision of participants to correct and improve experience techniques.
- Regular input, feedback, and communication with the Fitness & Customer Experience Supervisor regarding operational enhancement of the MOVE MORE group fitness program.
- Facility equipment inspection and maintenance; report as required
- Build meaningful relationships by engaging and communicating with participants, assessing participant capability, actively listening, showing compassion, building rapport, and offering ongoing coaching/motivation.
- Demonstrate professionalism (communication, uniform, punctuality).
- Work effectively in a team environment.
Required
- Completion of a 200-hour yoga training course
- 1 - 3 years of yoga instructor experience
Preferred
- Degree or diploma in a fitness/health-related area of study from a recognized college or university.
- Additional specialty-related certifications.

Salary: $45.00 - $65.00 per hour
