As the Utilities Operator – Wastewater, you will be responsible for the general operation and maintenance of the 2 extended aeration type Wastewater Treatment plants and corresponding 110 kilometers of Collection Systems and numerous pumping stations. Completing daily inspections of treatment and collection facilities • Monitoring and recording pump rates, flows, generator status and system efficiencies • Collecting and submitting samples to appropriate laboratories for analysis, as required by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks Environmental Compliance Approval (MECP ECA)• Performing maintenance and repairs for, and flushing of, existing sewer mains, laterals, manholes, valves, and other sewer system appurtenances as required • Performing utility locates of collection system piping as required by internal/external agencies, in order to avoid damage to existing underground plant or service disruption • Mandatory participation in overtime, rotational standby duties and on call response after hours, including weekend work and stat holidays as required Community college diploma in a related field such as Civil Engineering, Water/Wastewater or Environmental Studies, or equivalent related experience. • Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) Class III (3) Certification in Waste Water Treatment and MECP Class II (2) Certification Waste Water Collection. Preference is for applicants to have a minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated work experience in a wastewater collection and treatment environment. • A valid Class G driver's license and reliable vehicle is required, as is the ability to participate in overtime, on-call after hours and weekend work, and to attend evening meetings or other events, if necessary. Pay for position will be per Class Certification System for MECP Certifications in Wastewater Treatment and Wastewater Collection (See below): 91 per hour 36 per hour 08 per hour 64 per hour This full-time position has a competitive benefits package and enrollment in the OMERS Pension Plan.
