Reporting to the Management of Chief Fuels, you will be responsible with your team for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of our data center infrastructure. You will work diligently to complete all client requests and maintain operations to clients' standards and expectations.
Role and Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day activities and site operations in a 24x7 operating environment.
- Collaborate with operations monitoring centers in Asia and technical advisors in Europe.
- Working in a changing environment and ensuring that daily routines and procedures are up to date and guarantees operational excellence.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as hardware upgrades, equipment installations, and cable management to ensure optimal data center performance.
- Monitor data center infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and power distribution systems, to identify and resolve issues proactively.
- Respond to alerts and alarms expediently, troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions to minimize and prevent downtime.
- Coordinate with vendors and third-party providers for necessary equipment repairs, replacements, and upgrades.
- Maintain accurate documentation of data center assets, configurations and procedures.
- Assist in the implementation of new technologies and systems within the data center environment.
- Adhere to security protocols and best practices to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of data stored in the data center.
- Ensure proper security measures for the workplace and the network infrastructure, including collaborating with vendors (security monitoring, cyber security monitoring, physical security to buildings and infrastructure) and public agencies.
- Maintain logs for service and maintenance on deployed assets.
- Create reports on maintenance, repairs, safety, and other occurrences for upper management and clients.
- Prepare hardware for changing weather conditions.
- Mentor and develop the Operations team on site.
Qualifications and Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience in data center operations, including hands-on experience with server hardware, networking equipment, cabling and storage systems.
- Experience with electrical troubleshooting, HVAC, plumbing, security, and fire protection.
- Understanding of IT systems, data communication equipment and cabling.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues.
- Hands-on with an entrepreneurial mindset, startup experience is an asset.
- Comfortable directing and supporting a team of technicians in a 24x7 operating environment.
- Supervisory experience in a critical infrastructure environment/experience in facility management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Experience in MS Office Suite.
- Knowledge of data center best practices, standards, and protocols.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and work in physically demanding environments
