Illuming Power, a trailblazer in fuel cell advancements, is actively seeking an accomplished Senior Director of Commercial Strategy and Business Development with a profound educational background and working experience in fuel cell technology. Reporting to the President of the company, the Senior Director of Strategy and Business Development plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and growth of IPI within the dynamic and evolving fuel cell sector. This senior leadership position will require you to lead commercial strategic planning, identify and pursue business development opportunities, and establish key partnerships to accelerate our presence and success in the fuel cell market.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the Senior Director of Commercial Strategy and Business Development at Illuming Power, you will be the driving force behind our most innovative fuel cell projects. Your responsibilities will encompass:

COMMERCIAL STRATEGIC PLANNING & EXECUTION

  • Leverage the fuel cell-specific business development experience to formulate a comprehensive business development strategy for the fuel cell industry, aligning the company's overall goals and objectives with its capabilities.
  • Leverage your deep understanding of fuel cell materials, stack architecture and component design to drive the delivery of ground-breaking, industry-redefining solutions.
  • Represent IPI in commercial negotiations or other related functions.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities and grow IPI's revenue in the fuel cell industry.
  • Identify, evaluate, and establish strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and collaborations to enhance our market position and product offerings.
  • Manage and report on overall business development opportunities and forecasting for the IPI executive team.
  • Allocate resources accordingly to implement business development policies and programs.

MARKET ANALYSIS & STRATEGY

  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify growth opportunities, trends, and potential target markets within the fuel cell industry.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product and service innovation, ensuring they meet market demands and industry standards.
  • Monitor IPI's competitive landscape, assess competitors' strengths and weaknesses, and develop strategies to differentiate IPI in the market.

PROJECT LIAISON / COORDINATOR (RELATIONSHIP MANAGER FOR CHINESE CUSTOMERS)

  • Foster transparent and effective communication with diverse stakeholders, providing timely updates on project progress, mitigations, and opportunities.
  • Develop, execute, and meticulously monitor project deliverables, budget, schedule, and resources. Implement the highest standards of project management practices to maintain rigorous control over project advancement.
  • Oversee the creation and management of comprehensive project documentation, including strategic plans, in-depth reports, risk assessments, and knowledge repositories.
  • Implement best practices in manufacturing, production, and supply chain management to optimize processes and reduce costs.
  • Continuously identify and implement operational improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and maximize resource utilization.

TEAM LEADERSHIP (SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT)

  • Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams comprised of internal staff and external parties such as customers and other collaborators.
  • Guide regular project meetings, design reviews, and releases to ensure the alignment of solutions with project objectives, business tactics and organizational strategy.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with our Vancouver-based fuel cell teams and liaise with international affiliates to ensure the cohesive execution of projects across borders.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ph.D. in Engineering/Science in or a closely related to hydrogen fuel cell technology.
  • A distinguished track record of over 10 years in business development, within the hydrogen, fuel cell or related industry sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and guide cross-functional teams to unparalleled success.
  • Outstanding communication skills, enabling influential interactions with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proficiency in advanced project management methodologies and tools.
  • PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification is highly advantageous.
  • Experience working in the Chinese Fuel Cell industry and understanding of Chinese business culture is an asset to promote Illuming Power's products and services in their major geographical market.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin is an asset.

Pay: $108,500.00-$140,000.00 per year
