Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and cook:
- Complete meals or individual dishes and food.
- Special meals for patients as instructed by dietitian or chef.
- Schedule and supervise kitchen helpers.
- Oversee kitchen operations.
- Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment.
- May set up and oversee buffets.
- May clean kitchen and work area.
- Cooks specialize in preparing and cooking ethic cuisine or special dishes.
- Prepare sauces, salads and soups according to established recipes and make sure to store them correctly.
- Perform portioning and garnishing work to ensure an aesthetic appearance for each dish prepared.
- Measure and use the correct amount of ingredients to cook menu items.
