We are currently looking for a Senior Financial Analyst (Controller) VW Brand at our Corporate Offices in Ajax, ON

The Senior Financial Analyst (Controller) , VW Brand, is responsible for assisting in the full-cycle financial planning process within the Volkswagen Brand Controlling team. Specifically, to ensure financial requirements are communicated to stakeholders and follow all internal standards and processes. This role maintains monthly reporting for an integrated reporting system that ensures a fast, consistent and transparent controlling process to steer the business of the VW Brand. The function will support achieving a successful overall financial plan and will have a direct impact on company profitability.

This is a hybrid flex position, based out of the Ajax head office

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for assisting in the overall budgeting and planning round process.
  • Responsible to monitor commitment control using check and balance procedures, four-eye-principles, and early warning processes.
  • Provide high level of support in the preparation of financial reporting for VW Brand.
  • Responsible to support VW Brand strategic projects from a finance perspective and ensure projects are on track to achieve KPI's set out in the business case and flag any risks/opportunities that may arise.
  • Maintain continuity and operationalize the budget process throughout the organization. Steer all VW Brand departments to ensure plans are being met in terms of strategic assumptions, KPI's and spending optimization.
  • Provide on-going support to NAR and VW AG Controlling colleagues on regular and ad hoc financial topics.
  • Performance management of the overall VW Brand Marketing budget including evaluation of budget requests, transfers and reductions.
  • Responsible for monthly meetings with VW Brand budget custodians to discuss area's performance (trends, risks & opportunities) and possible actions to improve the business performance.
  • Responsible on accuracy of month end closing for gross margins, incentives, marketing, operational costs and related provisions. This includes management of accruals and the process to accurately forecast accrued liabilities, and ensuring previous year accruals are being released in a timely fashion and utilized tomaximum efficiency.
  • Preparation and submission of monthly journal entries, supporting the month end close and financial reporting process.
  • Preparation of monthly brand profit and cost analysis and variance reporting according to requirements of VGCA, NAR and VW AG.
  • Review of financial commitments submitted for Finance approval such as:
    • KSRM shopping carts (purchase order requests)
    • Payment requests and invoices
    • Vehicle PAR's (project appropriation requests)
    • Capital PAR's (project appropriation requests)
    • Contract requests
  • Oversee the financial reconciling of VW Dealer Marketing Association (DMA) and Owner loyalty programs, ensuring proper application and compliance with program specifications.
  • Evaluate financial scenarios, prepare financial simulations and build logic to measure financial performance
  • Vehicle pricing and gross margin analysis by model, review of F2R calculations, identifying areas for improvement and optimization
  • External audit support and review of Brand cost general ledger accounts and their associated accruals.
  • Preparation of the Variable wholesale program and payment reconciliation
  • Annual calculation of landed vehicle costs and maintenance of dealer net pricing
  • Acting as back up and support for Controller, Group Controlling

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Commerce in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field and/or relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of controlling experience in professional office environment
  • Expert understanding of MS Office (particularly Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Communication skills –Written, oral and presentation to influence and negotiate
  • Analytical skills – Ability to dissect complex financial processes and identify risks and process improvements
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing environment
  • Team player that works well under daily and monthly deadlines
  • Ability to build and foster strong working relationships with both internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • SAP Finance experience is an asset
  • Business Objects experience is an asset
  • Strong understanding of automotive segments & automobile industry trends is an asset
  • Strong business acumen – understanding of large, complex organizations and ability to interact with all levels of an organization
