The Opportunity:

Our client is actively seeking dynamic leadership individuals to join our successful and growing Business Development management team. The Business Development Market Leadership role is a technical and sales leader to lead our mining business development team with requirements in both Ontario and Quebec. Reporting through to the Director of Strategic Business Development, Market Leadership is responsible for building a highly productive sales pipeline that can meet and exceed revenue and margin expectations, including the needs of our existing and potential new clients. The Market Leadership is accountable for driving our clients corporate sales and marketing initiatives through the relevant market. Market Leadership collaborates effectively with leaders in other regions and markets. Responsibilities include profitability, growth, and retention of clients and service providers.

This position requires a strong, principle-centered leader to plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the sales activities associated with their market. Responsibilities will also include planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall sales and marketing initiatives for their regional market in accordance with company policies and procedures, current standards, guidelines, and regulations.

This position is based out of our Montreal, Quebec or Toronto, Ontario office locations and includes business travel.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Study market research and trends to determine consumer demand, potential sales opportunities, and volumes and effect of competitors' operations on sales.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies, review financial performance, assess development of new services, plan budgets, authorize expenditures, and resolve customer concerns.
  • Identify staffing requirements and provide input to hire or oversee hiring of staff.
  • Model and champion our clients values.
  • Create a safe environment for the discussion and resolution of values-related issues and concerns.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement sales initiatives that include business and customer development in their relevant Market.
  • Attain budgeted revenue expectations. Assure the profitability of the relevant Market is met.
  • Work with the team supporting the Corporate or relevant Market specific initiatives. Lead, coach and motivate team to achieve established goals.
  • Set sales expectations relevant Market.
  • Measure the activities within their relevant Market to assure that their Sales activities will produce intended sales production.
  • Work in concert with other department and business segment leaders to assure congruence with sales operations, representing the voice of the relevant Market, the customer, and the interests of the team.
  • Complete monthly formal reports of relevant Market performance.
  • Assists with project implementation, as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A university degree in a relevant technical science or engineering discipline; a degree/diploma in Business Administration is an asset.
  • A broad range of functional knowledge within the relevant mining market with specific knowledge in environmental, engineering, and/or water treatment.
  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years experience, including four (4) years management and four (4) years of sales experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in developing sales strategy and sales plans linking to the market business plan with knowledge of regional and national markets.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, engaging with key stakeholders at all levels of the company.
  • Strong working knowledge of motivation, training, mentoring, and general supervisory skills.
  • Leadership abilities and team building skills to effectively manage professional and non-professional staff is required.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key business partners, and clients.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Well developed problem-solving skills and the ability to develop conceptual alternatives.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures of BluMetric.
  • Ability to travel on business is required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Fluency in French and English (spoken and written) is required.
