Salary Bands Grade : Band 5 Level 3

About the Role

The Appraiser Network Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective oversight of the appraisal network. You will be responsible for managing and optimizing the performance of the appraiser network within your designated geographical area. To succeed in your role, you need to be driven by collective success, be professional, helpful and organized. You will build effective relationships with the business stakeholders, understand client needs and focus on the appraiser experience.

Responsibilities:

Relationship Management & Coverage Expansion

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with appraisers, ensuring effective communication channels and regular engagement.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance appraiser engagement, satisfaction, and loyalty.
  • Oversee the recruitment and onboarding process for appraisers working closely with the Appraiser Relation Managers to identify talent needs, attract qualified candidates, and ensure a smooth onboarding experience.

Performance Management & Training

  • Conduct regular monitoring of our appraiser network's performance, encompassing GTAT, quality and fees, using BI Reporting on a weekly basis. Collaborate closely with regional leads and the Appraiser Partner Director to identify areas of improvement and implement performance management strategies to monitor and evaluate the overall performance of appraiser companies within the network.
  • Provide insight reports to senior management, identifying trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement and recommendations.
  • Review client contracts and requirements pertaining to appraiser performance, including turnaround times, client penalties, and any specific appraiser performance expectations. This involves working knowledge of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and collaborating proactively with lender partners to identify and address any areas experiencing SLA bottlenecks.
  • Ensure efficient and open communication channels with appraisers, providing regular updates, sharing performance expectations, and convey important information related to the network and company policies.
  • Attend industry conferences, seminars, and workshops to enhance industry knowledge and network with peers.
  • Identify coverage gaps or emerging markets demands within the appraiser network and proactively address them by recruiting new appraisers or adjusting workload distribution.
  • Identify leanings gaps and provide training and development sessions for Appraisers on tools, technology and processes to enhance overall performance delivery.

Onboarding & Ongoing Maintenance

  • Manage and implement effective onboarding programs that provide new appraisers with the necessary resources, training, and support to succeed.
  • Manage onboarding process for new appraisers, ensuring they are properly set up, trained, and familiarized with company performance standards and procedures.
  • Ensure the appraisal network information stays up to date with essential details such as contact information, current workload capacity, and rankings of appraiser companies, and verify that appraisers' documentation and certifications are in full compliance with all relevant regulations and Appraiser Accredited Associations.
  • Address and resolve any disputes or conflicts that may arise between appraisers and clients, appraisers and the company, or among appraisers themselves. Act as a mediator and find mutually beneficial solutions while upholding company policies and standards.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices, and ensure that the appraiser network is compliant with all applicable guidelines.
  • Monitor and manage the profit and loss within the designated area by analyzing base fees, add-ons and fee control measures.
    Identify strategies to optimize financial performance in your designated area.
    Analyze financial reports and make data-driven decisions to enhance profitability.
  • Work with appraisers to understand key items of costs including setting base fees and properly utilizing add-ons.
  • Develop suggested fee schedules for areas within your region to assist with appraiser expectations and improve costs and efficiencies throughout the network.

Education/ Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • An appraisal designation is not a requirement but will be considered an asset.
  • Bilingual (FR/EN) is not a requirement but will be considered an asset.
  • 10+ years proven experience in managing and optimizing a network of appraisers or similar roles in the real estate or appraisal industry.

Skills/ Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of appraisal processes, standards, and regulations.
  • Strong leadership abilities with the aptitude to motivate and inspire direct reports and appraisers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Adaptability to an ever-changing environment.
  • Critical thinking ability to problem solve.
  • Exceptional organizational with a keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using technology tools and systems commonly used in the appraisal industry.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess appraiser performance data and identify areas for improvement.
