Encorp Pacific (Canada) is a federally incorporated, not-for-profit, product stewardship corporation with deposit return beverage container management as its core business. Its members include beverage container associations representing both large multinational companies, smaller regional companies, and retailers. Its mandate is to develop, manage, and improve systems to recover used packaging and end-of-life products from consumers and ensure that they are properly recycled and not land-filled or incinerated.

In British Columbia Canada, Encorp Pacific (Encorp) is best known as Return-It. Encorp's evolving collection network consists of 160+ Return-It depots across BC.

In 2023, Encorp recycled 1.4 billion beverage containers through its network of 163 depots representing a 79.7% recovery rate and generating cash flow in excess of $130 million. Since its inception in 1994, Encorp has established itself as one of the leading product stewardship organizations in North America. In 2021, Encorp continued aggressively to expand its consumer-friendly Express Return system network. As of February 1, 2022, Encorp's role further expanded as milk and plant-based beverages became part of the deposit system in BC. Encorp also handles some other designated recyclable materials on behalf of other stewardship agencies.

Senior Director of Logistics and Plant Operations

The Senior Director of Logistics and Plant Operations will play a vital role in overseeing our growing list of corporate-owned recycling infrastructure, QA Centre, count center facilities, and logistics. Based mostly in the Burnaby corporate office and reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, the Senior Director will be responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient operations across these critical areas by working collaboratively with the leadership team on the development, execution, and operational initiatives of the strategic plan for Encorp Pacific throughout BC. They will also ensure the daily operational procedures and systems are sustainable and cost-effective while supporting a vision for growing the recovery rate above its current 80% and reducing the costs of collection systems.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

As the ideal candidate, you are a seasoned director who brings experience in operations and logistics, including transportation, processing, and plant operations within waste management, manufacturing, or in an organization with strong parallels. Multi-site experience will be an asset. You will have the demonstrated ability to improve the logistics of a complex operation and lead a team with a continuous improvement focus. Demonstrated experience introducing new initiatives, implementing analytics to support collection and transportation, and enhancing the professionalism and effectiveness of a team will be highly valued.

You are a senior operational leader with experience in a multi-site, consumer products manufacturing organization. Previous experience leading major capital projects and designing, establishing, and/or relocating facilities will be an asset. Public company exposure while maintaining an entrepreneurial spirit and roots or parallel experience is also desirable.

Salary and Location

The salary for this position is $170,000 - $180,000 plus a bonus. This exciting opportunity in the growing and enticing stewardship industry is based in Encorp Pacific's Burnaby head office.
