Title: Project Director

Location: Edmonton AB – Remote (If required, candidate should be available for onsite meetings. Once a quarter)

Duration: Months Contract + possible extension

Working Hours: Standard Hours of work are: Alberta time, Monday through Friday

Key Responsibilities will include:
  1. Supporting the development and implementation of a project management office for the Registries Modernization project.
  2. Defining and developing key artifacts and deliverables to ensure consistent monitor, tracking and reporting within each of the registry modernization program areas.
  3. Coordinating with program managers and Product Directors to track and manage risks to the overall Registries Modernization project.
  4. Providing leadership and guidance to program managers and Product Directors to deliver on the business objectives of each area.
  5. Monitoring progress of the Registries Modernization project and provide timely updates to key leadership and governance committees.
  6. Coordinating with program managers and Product Directors to ensure all teams have the necessary resources to complete the work.
  7. Coordinating with program managers and Product Directors to establish and maintain program timelines; identifying gaps, managing dependencies and milestones, and escalating impacts and risks to timelines to leadership.
  8. Coordinating with the Registries Evolution finance team, program managers and Product Directors to develop and manage program budgets.
  9. Establishing and implementing reporting mechanisms to communicate progress and risks to leadership and governance committees.
  10. Analyzing overall project performance, providing feedback and recommendations, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  11. Other activities as needed to support the successful project delivery of the Registries Modernization project.
Required Experience:

Experience leading large enterprise-scale projects and programs.

Experience working on agile software development and modern, service design based product delivery comparable in size and complexity for a large organization such as state, provincial, or federal government or a private company with 1,000 or more employees or for a startup or small business addressing a complex challenge at scale.

Senior leadership experience defining project scope, goals and deliverables such as roadmaps, governance, briefing notes, and business cases that support project goals in collaboration with business stakeholders.

Experience as Program Manager managing a portfolio of projects by providing governance, prioritizing, monitoring, reporting at a Program level.

Nice To Have:

Experience identifying, analyzing and managing project risks on large, complex projects.

Experience in managing project/program financials such as budgeting and forecasts.

Experience making decisions and recommendations on highly technical or complex issues without formal guidelines or precedents and exercises resourcefulness and ingenuity.

Experience supporting and collaborating directly with stakeholders, external (public users) and internal business areas. Ability to co-ordinate and communicate necessary information well to all clients.

Senior leadership experience defining program goals in collaboration with business stakeholders.

Senior leadership experience within a complex, business and technical IT environment.

Experience in developing project schedule plans and strategies, estimate resource requirements, develop and monitor work plans for completion of project tasks.
