Job Summary:

This incumbent provides a wide range of administrative support services for the Human Resources department.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Provide confidential administrative support regarding HR activities.
  2. Liaise with staff, supervisors, benefit carriers, and the general public regarding HR issues.
  3. Maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal staff and external contacts.
  4. Maintain records management and bring forward systems according to established procedures.
  5. Assist with compensation and benefits program administration.
  6. Compile statistics and prepare reports, including data for use in collective bargaining, seniority lists, pay increase dates, etc.
  7. Coordinate relevant training programs, events, and workshops, including employee recognition and long service awards.
  8. Provide input into relevant bylaws, policies, and procedures.
  9. Act as Human Resources Coordinator as assigned.
  10. Follow, so far as is reasonably practicable, established safety procedures and standards.
  11. Other related duties.

Position Requirements:

Working Conditions: Majority of the work is performed under normal office conditions.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • 1 year post-secondary Business Administration certificate or related field.
  • 3 years previous related experience and 6 months on-the-job training.
  • Knowledge of human resources practices is an asset.
  • Strong client service orientation and good interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and collective agreements.
  • Ability to work and maintain accuracy under pressure and to meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with little supervision.
