Director, Community Giving – MACKENZIE HEALTH FOUNDATION Mackenzie Health Foundation is seeking a forward-thinking, results-driven fundraising professional who is passionate about healthcare philanthropy to be our Director, Community Giving. This newly developed position will report to the Vice President, Philanthropy and be responsible for an annual giving portfolio that includes signature events, community events, third-party events, in honour gifts, in memory gifts, and the staff giving program. The incumbent will establish and lead a community-focused fundraising team and will collaborate internally to establish strategies and plans that are aligned across fundraising streams and with overall goals, ensuring a positive donor experience and maximized revenue portfolios. This is an opportunity for a result-driven fundraising generalist to re-imagine and re-invigorate the community giving portfolio. On the heels of one of Canada's largest and most successful community hospital campaigns and the resulting growth in patient services and supports, Mackenzie Health Foundation has a goal of sustaining and growing annual revenue to meet the needs of the communities it serves. Over its 60-year history, the hospital has grown in both physical size and in the range and sophistication of its services to meet the health care needs of one of Canada's fastest-growing communities.From its humble beginnings in November of 1963, Mackenzie Health has transformed, becoming a two-hospital organization with the opening of CortellucciVaughan Hospital in 2021. Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital – Canada's First Smart Hospital The state-of-the-art Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital opened on June 6, 2021, and features fully integrated systems and medical technology to improve the patient experience and provide the best possible care, putting Mackenzie Health on a path to becoming a technologically advanced, smart healthcare provider. As Canada's first smart hospital, each patient room at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital features smart beds that automatically monitor patients, giving healthcare providers real-time information without disturbing them and has smart bedside tablets, which give patients access to personalized health information, including tailored educational videos. The communities served by Mackenzie Health are growing and with that growth, the demand for quality health care services is increasing. Mackenzie Health Foundation is at the forefront of addressing this challenge through a multitude of fundraising programs and initiatives. Donor support enables Mackenzie Health to expand facilities, add new services, and equip medical teams to meet the healthcare needs of today and tomorrow. Moving into 2024, Mackenzie Health Foundation is gearing up for an ambitious year with the bold theme – "Be Part of Something Bigger". True transformation comes from the collective force of community support. The continued involvement of donors is essential to ensuring a bright future for health care in communities throughout the York Region. The Foundation is working towards increasing funds and donor commitments to meet the ever-growing needs of the community while supporting Mackenzie Health's vision to provide a world-class healthcare experience. On the heels of the largest fundraising initiative ever undertaken by a community hospital in Canada, Mackenzie Health is motivated to do even more and to continue providing best-in-class health care services. While government funding is essential, it often falls short of covering the full spectrum of healthcare costs. The Foundation fundraises through third-party and signature events, in honour, in memory, and monthly gifts, gifts of securities, legacy gifts, partnerships with the business community, and the generosity of individual donors. By engaging our community, Mackenzie Health Foundation ensures continued support allowing Mackenzie Health to invest in state-of-the-art technology, training opportunities for health professionals, expand and improve facilities, launch specialized programs and clinics and meet our ambitions of creating a world-leading healthcare landscape for the people of York Region. Work collaboratively with senior leadership team to establish strategies and plans that are aligned across fundraising streams, and with overall goals, ensuring a positive donor experience and maximized revenue portfolios. Plan for and support the recruitment and engagement of volunteer leaders for community-based fundraising. Promote the creation of third-party events in the community through networking and engagement initiatives. Act as an Ambassador for Mackenzie Health Foundation in the community, including attending community events and activities, and speaking on behalf of the Foundation. Demonstrate commitment to the value of the diverse cultures of the York Region, encourage inclusive behaviour, and ensure that Mackenzie Health is represented with integrity and care. Develop internal relationships with Hospital and Foundation staff, promoting a culture of philanthropy. Develop, manage, and execute comprehensive business and marketing strategies for the Community Giving Portfolio. Lead the development of the annual plan, budget, and key performance indicators to meet annual revenue targets for Community Giving. Evaluate fundraising activities and develop strategies to improve revenue performance and efficiencies and make recommendations to increase revenue and community support. Grow and expand Community Giving through promotion and exploration of new opportunities. Work in partnership with Marketing and Communications to develop communications plans for the Community Giving portfolio in alignment with the Foundation's overall communications plan. Collaborate internally on communications materials and assets, including website content, annual reports, newsletters, brochures and pamphlets and social media to enhance marketing. Effective oversight and management of Signature and Community events including logistics, partnerships with suppliers, sponsorships, participants, and volunteers. Develop and manage processes and logistics for In Memory, and In Honor giving programs. Work closely with Major Gift and Stewardship teams to facilitate the growth and maintenance of the prospect pipeline. Plan and implement hospital physician and staff engagement and giving programs. Effectively leverage Raiser's Edge donor database to track, evaluate and report on fundraising activities. Fundraising experience across multiple revenue streams including events, corporate sponsorships, and mid-level giving strategies. Experience leading the development and execution of community-based fundraising activities and partnerships. Demonstrated experience building, mentoring, coaching and fostering innovation within high-performing teams. Excellent relationship-building skills and a history of building trusting relationships with donors. Experience working with data analytics to evaluate and guide planning for increased revenue generation activities. Public speaking skills and enthusiasm for representing Mackenzie Health Foundation in the community. Awareness of and sensitivity to the various cultures represented in the York region along with a commitment to inclusivity, diversity, equality, and accessibility. Organized, attentive to detail and effective time management skills. Experience with Raiser's Edge is considered an asset. Passion for healthcare philanthropy and community-based fundraising. Experience working in a healthcare-related environment is considered an asset. Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. Must have a valid Ontario driver's license and a reliable insured vehicle. University degree or college diploma in fundraising or related field or equivalent combination of skills and experience.
