Municipal and Northern Relations is seeking a qualified individual to fill a Technical and Public Works Consultant position located in Thompson/The Pas. Candidates who possess a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology must be willing and able to obtain their Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation within 12 months of the start date or combination of education and experience Must be able to travel to remote communities by vehicle, boat, small aircraft, all-terrain vehicle and/or on winter roads Must be able to work overtime including evening and/or weekends if and when required Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, preferable in the Environmental or Municipal Discipline; a Bachelor of Science, or an Engineering degree. Knowledge of operations and maintenance of municipal infrastructure, water, wastewater systems, or solid waste management Experience interpreting and applying legislation related to municipal infrastructure, water, wastewater, and solid waste management, including The Public Health Act and Environment Act and related regulations Experience with municipal infrastructure including planning, operations and maintenance (ex: roads, public buildings, equipment) Knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety and Risk Management policies and procedures Duties: The Technical and Public Works Consultant is responsible to consult with, assist and provide guidance to community councils and their staff in the development and maintenance of municipal infrastructure consistent with community development plans.
