What the role is

ASSISTANT MANAGER, EV BATTERY UNIT

What you will be working on

You will be part of the National Electric Vehicle Centre (NEVC), under LTA's Technology and Industry Development Group. The NEVC is set up to facilitate EV adoption, spearhead regulation and deployment of EV charging systems, as part of the development of a thriving EV ecosystem in Singapore. To manage the greater EV adoption, NEVC has also set up a battery unit to study EV battery related matters, such as battery fire incident response. In this role, you will be part of the newly established EV battery unit under the NEVC. This role requires technical expertise in battery related technologies, including safety and standards. Specifically, you will be responsible for:

  1. Resourcing solutions needed to address various battery related matters ranging from safety to solutions research, development and validation.
  2. Developing and organising consultation platforms, both with public and private stakeholders, to ideate and advance on EV battery related matters and opportunities in Singapore.
  3. Expanding EV batteries related expertise and knowledge within the organisation.
  4. Supporting standards development relating to batteries.
  5. Identifying and foresighting of new developmental areas relating to EV battery.
  6. Engaging external stakeholders, such as automakers, dealers and battery companies, research institutes, trade associations and chambers, and government partners to support the unit and validate/refine internal expertise, knowledge and solutions.
What we are looking for

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering. At least 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably within the battery technology ecosystem;
• Candidates who have experience working in EV or AV industry will have an added advantage;
• Understanding in mechanical and electrical systems of li-ion batteries, including modelling, maintenance;
• Strong design, conceptual and analytical thinking skills;
• Good writing, communication and presentation skills;
• Proactive, resourceful and able to work independently;
• Keen interest in industry trends and technology developments, particularly for automotive and clean energy sectors.
