The Shilo Military Family Resource Centre (SMFRC) offers a variety of programing and
services to families experiencing a deployment as well as organizes special events for the Shilo
area. Within this position the successful candidate will assist with both deployment services and
special events. This position would be under the supervision of the Deployment and Special
Events Coordinator.
Deployment:
Deployment services offer various programming and services to any family experiencing a 30+
day work related absence. This department provides warm lines phone calls/emails, family
programs, adult programs, and deployment Saturday (childcare) programming. Deployment
services also provide information, referral, and support to families.
Special Events:
The special events department is responsible for planning community events from initial idea to
facilitation of event. In the past the SMFRC has hosted the following events: Military Family
Appreciation Day and Dinners on us BBQs. During the summer months events occur monthly.
Requirements:
-18 years of age or older & returning to school in the fall
-Experience with program planning and working with families
-Ability to research and develop resources
-Criminal Background & Abuse Registry Check
-A valid Driver?s License would be an asset
-Experience with military lifestyle would be an asset
Responsibilities include:
-Planning and attending deployment programs
-Assist with warm line calls and email follow ups
-Drafting monthly deployment emails
-Developing a deployment package for families
-Maintaining and building relationships with local businesses/community partners
-Planning and attending the MFRC special events
-Other duties as assigned
Terms of Reference:
Anticipated start date: June 24, 2024, however, are willing to accommodate a later start date
for the right candidate
Anticipated completion date: August 16, 2024, however, are willing to extend to accommodate
a later start date for the right candidate
Work Week: 37.5 hours per week (mix of day, evenings, and weekends)
Location: In person work at Bldg T-114 at Shilo MFRC
Hourly Rate: $17.54 per hour
Other Compensation: Mileage compensation available if travelling 16 kms or more for work

As part of the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) program with the Government of Canada, you must
be under the age of 30 at the start of the summer employment term. Unfortunately, international
students are not eligible under this program.
